What in the world is the deal with this position? Owens is a good person and I appreciate him, but how can he be the best option at right tackle? If he is the best option, what does that say about the coaching from Doug Marrone? What does it say about where the young guys are?

Our Center Dalcourt was just as bad.

Literally turns his shoulders allowing free guys up his gap in passing protection.

I met Marrone back in the summer. He was crowing how we had 7-8 guys who could start anywhere in America. Bull shite.

Then what has his coaching done to them?

He lost the job in fall camp because he was bad at snapping, he's not a Center either.

We've had an embarrassment of riches at center over the years. Even Mike Shula left Saban with a guy who became an All-American.

It’s the rare OL that can move from center to tackle. Owens wasn’t able to win the center job in 3-4 seasons. Why the hell does anyone think he’s the best option at RT?

Owens is a OT by trade, they made him a Center. He was the backup LT for the last 2 years as well.

Right so ship Owens back to C and now we are only shitty at one position up front.

Someone between Randolph, Kight, Latham and Brockmeyer is just as capable of getting beat at RT instead of Owens and at least they aren’t 6th year seniors.

I don't know about moving from center to tackle, but I would think that center is a harder position to learn. Jones, Bozeman, Pierschbacher, and Dickerson all played other positions on the line beside center. Dickerson never played center at any level before he came to Alabama. Aside from being slow, maybe he doesn't have the football IQ that other players have had. Just because a guy may be big and have a certain skill level up to a point, it doesn't mean that he has all the other characteristics. Just being 300 pounds will take you a long way in high school.

This is no attack on Owens as a person and grateful he’s been committed to being a career backup but DAMN he’s not the answer. Our offensive line is offensive. Thank God for Neal or BY would be crushed every snap. You can not tell me there isn’t another option on the bench. I could do what Owens is doing. Which is not a damn thing.
