The last time Miami was that team there were guys like "Butch Cassidy" and "Sundance Kid" and Mercury Morris, Bob Griese and Paul Warfield running the show. Been a long, good while. Marino and the "Killer Bees" with Bob Baumhower and Tony Nathan kicked up some dust but could never finish. That too has been a long time ago. Since then more good players have been a whole lot more interested in leaving than getting there. It's a very poorly run NFL franchise at this point and I do want better for Tua.

I recall a time that Bo Jackson wanted no part of Tampa Bay as the first pick. He had baseball to go to until Tampa traded his rights to Oakland. Elway wanted no part of Baltimore and got traded and Eli Manning publicly wanted no part of San Diego and was shipped to NY. Just saying, he still has eligibility at a place that if he returns would be an all-time Alabama legend. I could also see a lot of juniors on offense rethinking their plans as well if Tua stayed. Kind of like the Tebow effect.

All those clemson DL came back last year because they wanted another shot at going out champs. It happens every year... rare but it does happen.

Jonathan Allen came back for his senior year when he was a slam dunk 1st rounder.

I do think Tua father is a bigger CNS fan than Tua though. Tua may be counting the seconds to escape CNS even though he understands its CNS job to remind him he isn't perfect.

In looking at management the last several years, the common factor seems to be Stephen Ross, who took over as managing partner for Wayne Huizinga in 2009. They have had one season over .500 in his tenure and only one playoff appearance, and they're on their fourth GM in eleven years. His hires haven't been successful. They haven't been horrible every year; most years they've just been mediocre. Two 8-8s and four 7-9s.

This is Brian Flores' first year as a head coach anywhere, but he was an assistant at New England for 15 years. That could help explain the Tua/Saban/Alabama love.

That is because Tampa Bay screwed him over with his collegiate baseball eligibility (I don’t remember all the details) so he refused to play for them. He told them not to draft him because he would rather play baseball than play for them. He was drafted by Oakland the next year.

Tampa flew Bo down there on their private jet. Bo asked if the NCAA would have a problem with it and they said, "nah". They intentionally made him ineligible for baseball because they wanted him. That's what I remember anyways.

I’ve started looking at mock drafts and so far both I’ve looked at have Miami drafting Tua and Najee. I know mock drafts mean very little but I don’t know if that’s something I would want to happen. I would rather the Dolphins draft Leatherwood or another top Olineman. IMO they should focus mostly on helping Tua in this draft and free agency then look at the defense next year unless there is someone you absolutely can’t pass up.

Yea, I hate Auburn as much as anyone but that was complete BS and Tampa Bay got what they deserved.

I'm not trying to get anyone's hopes up but Tua could return next season. Whether Tua leaves won't be his decision alone. His father will be very much involved and his father is football savvy. This won't be a situation where the family will be bowled over with millions of dollars.

Barring catastrophic injury, there isn't a dollar amount I wouldn't bet against this prediction.

Why does everyone here think our players, somehow, are "so in love with the college experience" that they'll stay to soak it up? Family values? GTFOH.

We recruit kids on the premise that we are the place to be if you want to go to the NFL. It's quite literally on every recruiting pamphlet and media blast we send to recruits.

Why on earth would Tua (or his dad) decide staying and risking injury, when he is more than likely going to be the #1 overall pick in the NFL draft?

One more time for people in the back: Kids aren't coming from California, Hawaii, or Texas to Tuscaloosa because Tuscaloosa, Alabama is some oasis. They are coming because Nick Saban's program gives them the best opportunity to maximize their God given ability to play football, and quickly monetize it in the National Football League.

Can you blame them? If you were a bright engineering student, would you not, if given a free-ride, attend MIT? A gifted finance student, to attend Harvard?

Miami is no dynasty, but any team with the #1 pick is gonna be a train-wreck.

Even if they decide Miami is a place where they sacrifice polynesians on South Beach and it's no longer a spot they want to go to, there's precedent with Eli Manning and John Elway to force a trade.

I agree barring disaster or injury there is 0% chance he is coming back. Coach Saban would even recommend he leave. Tua going number 1 overall will only help with recruiting. About the only accolade Saban hasn’t achieved while at Alabama is having a #1 pick.

Exactly, hell there's a good chance Miami even has the #1 pick in 2020 and 2021.

Herbert didn't leave because he's focused on med school, has a 4.0, and was born/raised in Eugene Oregon.

His thought process is life after football, not football for life.
