Tanking for Tua?

quote:

“(The Dolphins) have coveted Tua (Tagovailoa) — the first minute he looked off Georgia’s safety and threw a dart to beat Georgia in the National Championship Game coming off the bench. He had the Dolphins at hello.”

These are the words from one of sports radio’s best — Rich Eisen. Eisen spent a fair amount of time on Tuesday talking about the Miami Dolphins, their teardown of the roster and the decision making involved with sending away talents like Minkah Fitzpatrick and Laremy Tunsil. But at the center of it all was the fact that the worst kept secret in football circles has been Miami’s affection for the Alabama quarterback.

quote:

“Speak to anybody in this business — he had the Dolphins at hello,” emphasized Eisen.

“I heard at the Draft in Dallas two years ago (2018) that the Dolphins coveted Tua.”

It makes all the sense in the world. To do what they are doing you gotta sell a dream to the ownership, clearly Tua is that dream.

The Dolphins aren't a good team, but they are not necessarily a poorly run franchise. Provided the 'Fins accumulate draft picks, use them well, and can build around him, I see a situation where he does well.

The AFC East has been shite awful outside of New England for years. I legitimately think it is the #1 factor the Patriots have been so dominant. They play a division schedule that allows them to win on average over 5 out of the 6 games they've played since realignment in 2002. 5 out of six. That means, they need to be just .500 on the rest of their slate to get to 10 wins, the virtual "guarantee" barometer for making the playoffs. On top of that, winning your division guarantees a home game.

I think the Dolphins with Tua could become the next team up once that Cyborg in Foxboro rides off into the sunset.

Is there any chance in the world Tua comes back as a senior to play with his brother?

As a Bama fan, I wish he would, but he's being projected by a lot of scouts as the #1 QB in the draft.

If he comes back & gets hurt, his stock could drop & then he would lose millions. So as a Tua fan, if he remains healthy and predicted to go in the top 5, he had better go.

He's playing with him now.

Only 1 ball and they're both QBs, as good as it's gonna get in that regard.

They've got the draft picks to do a solid rebuild. That Steelers pick could be very high as well.

2020
1st round (Dolphins)
1st round (Texans)
1st round (Steelers)
2nd round (Dolphins)
2nd round (Saints)
3rd round (Dolphins)
5th round (Steelers)
6th round (Dolphins)
6th round (Cowboys)
7th round (Dolphins)

2021
1st round (Dolphins)
1st round (Texans)
2nd round (Dolphins)
2nd round (Texans)
3rd round (Dolphins)
4th round (Dolphins)
5th round (Dolphins)
6th round (Steelers)

If the O-line keeps him off his back and doesn’t let him take hits that could hurt him.. I see him going as the top pick. But from what I have seen the first few games that could be a IF. He stays healthy we ROLL and he Goes. I will take that trade off for a healthy Tua. He will put up massive numbers with us needing to score

Oregons Justin Herbert was projected top five last year, and he came back for his senior year because, “Nothing could pull me away from the opportunities that we have in front of us.”

I would imagine if Tua wins the Heisman and a title he is 100% gone. If he misses either one of those there is a small chance he comes back.

There is a zero percent chance Tua comes back. He'd be silly if he did.

The Dolphins aren't as bad as they are playing. This is why players like Fitzpatrick are getting out of there because they are competitors who don't like to purposefully blow games for draft picks. No modern NFL team is capable of being as bad as the Dolphins have played the first two weeks of the season. Not with the way the league is set up.

Since 2000, Miami has made the playoffs 4 times. I'm a Dolphins fan, unfortunately

If the Dolphins have coveted Tua for so long then why did they trade a 2nd for Rosen? That’s what I cannot understand. Seems to me they should’ve kept the pick and spent it on an OL or something like that.

I could very well see Tua coming back for his senior season. And, I could very well see Tua's father not wanting his son to go to a franchise that might put his health and career in jeopardy and telling a team his son won't sign with them.

Nah, no way. He’s a 5th round draft pick that only throws slants to all-American receivers, any LSU fan would be happy to inform you.
