It likely won’t be ready until next week, gotta lot of data cleaning to do, then designing the dashboard. So feel free to do your own thing in the name of expediency

Sure sounds like it will be difficult to hang on to Kira. Dang
Another potential problem would be if Lewis (or any others) were denied immediate playing time and decided to stay, how does that look to everyone involved regarding their attitude about the program?
If I'm Coach Oats, I'd think long and hard about wanting a player under those conditions....and from what I gather about him, I wouldn't be surprised if he told them to take a hike!...I probably would if they couldn't convince me otherwise.

What’s going to matter most, though, are the rest of the days in this week, the ones after the press conference, the ones where the real work gets done. Oats has to stabilize the next season’s roster to the extent that he can — re-recruiting players that he wants to keep, current members of the squad as well as recruits.

Then there is adding more recruits, if possible in the late period. There is the critical work of re-establishing a culture of accountability that seemed to have vanished like melting ice on Lake Erie — the new coach will find out soon enough that Lake Tuscaloosa doesn’t freeze — as the 2019 season wore on. He will also learn that football matters here but, contrary to some outside perceptions, that doesn’t mean basketball doesn’t matter, too.

Alabama people know good basketball — and hard work.

Having a team that wins is the ultimate measure of success for any coach but having a team that gives consistent effort is the foundation of winning.

That requires teaching, too. It’s an overstatement, and unfair to the previous staff, to say that there were no fundamentals last year. Alabama was good defensively in 2019, the best in the league against the 3-point shot. Offensively, there has been an eight-year wait to see an often-promised uptempo style that didn’t result in more turnovers than layups. There are opportunities to work with players in various ways in the off-season. Those are the days where Oats needs to work magic, moreso than at Thursday’s podium.

This quote above is one of the key reasons I'm excited to have Oats. Alabama is much better off with a coach who can evaluate talent, recruit and develop fundamentally sound basketball players. If they happen to be great athletes as well, then fine. But they better be basketball players first.

He'll undoubtedly have individual interviews with each player very soon (I suspect he's been inundated with watching game film), and I'd guess that he'll take a position of strength with each kid, pointing out their strengths and weaknesses, and explaining to them how he's gonna make them and the team better. After this is completed, he should have a pretty good feel for who he can depend on ...and who he can't.

AMEN!!
As we all know, the very highly recruited kids are the athletes who can play basketball. Since Alabama isn't an elite basketball powerhouse program, pickings are always slim. A coach with an eye for talent and excellent developmental skills has a much greater selection of kids to pick from.....Btw, this is Pearl's strong suit.

Well I think you can pretty much lay out the welcome mat for him in NW Arkansas, then. $3M is chump change in the post-SEC Network landscape of SEC Basketball salaries.

Sounds like they are happy to just move on to his son but required to give a token offer to say they tried

Quick question to anyone:

Who the heck is Mark Jennings? I assumed he was a Twitter troll because he posts in all caps, but I keep seeing other people reference him.

Its soo odd that our football players from Alabama are dogs...then the basketball players are laid back. Maybe J. Green was the last guy who didnt take shite.

Are we hoping he brings Brian Hodgson with him?

I am certainly still hoping that Bucky will be on the staff.

Very interested in seeing who the new S&C coach is.

When do we expect to hear about Pett, Pelphrey, and Ya?
