Of some of the bigger names being thrown around, who would you all want the most? Like hypothetically speaking say Sampson, Beard, & Matta are all in play, which one ya got?
I would have -
1. Beard
2. Matta
3. Sampson

I’m starting to worry, and expecting the inevitable. Arkansas hires Sampson. Matta and Beard tell us no. Vandy hires Forbes. Byrne makes a seemingly great mid-major hire. Our returning players and recruiting class are unimpressed and leave. We become the bottom dweller of the SEC, getting beat to shite the first year. Recruiting prospect see this and take us off their list. We becoming the yearly punching bag for the otherwise best basketball conference of all time. Where’s the Tylenol.

Oh and Bruce Pearl gets caught on wiretap a couple years down the road. We rejoice. They hire Avery. We rejoice. Avery wins multiple NCAA titles. He releases his autobiography years later, “A Tale of Two Schools”.

I seriously doubt Beard is in play. If he is, hell that would trump everybody not named Donovan or Pitino.
Matta, I don’t think is ready to ride again. All indications and rumors say he’s not.
Samson has the relationship with the Arkie AD and appears to be their top target.
IF Donovan wants to come back to the college game, UCLA will be first in line unless they revert to being the cheap bastards they usually are for athletics. Arizona would certainly pony up for him as would Kansas. We’re way down the pecking order for him.

He is the ideal coach. If we can pull Beard there is no one better for what we are now and what we need in the next few years.

Let them take the NCAA hit. We don't need a known dirty coach coming in. Every coach plays the game, hell Avery did it with Sexton, but the last thing anyone wants is someone coming in who is already on the NCAA radar.
