One of the 3manfront dudes (Landrum, I think?) is saying he's leaning toward it being Matta. And, I agree, if we're sure he's healthy, that would be a home run hire.

*edit, not on the roundtable, I meant 3manfront.

Here is how I think it goes....We hire Pitino with Bucky as assistant, Pitino retires in 7 or 8 years and Bucky takes over as HC.

I'd be all for renaming it ColeMatta Arena.

I talked to @RealPitino about rumors he’s involved for the Alabama job: ‘The only thing I can say with my broken record is that in my 30+ years as a head coach I’ve never cut a dirty deal or gave any improper benefits to any athletes. All you have to do is ask my over 30 assistants who have become head coaches or any player that has played for me.‘

Heck, this program was gonna hire Hugh Freeze at one point. If there is anybody that believes in second chances, it's Saban.

Holy hell. I'd never looked at Matta's HC record before:

And all the turnaround were quick with Thad. He would have next years roster in the tournament easily.

Matta does have an overall outstanding resume, 24-13 NCAA tournament record, 2 FINAL 4'S, only 51 years old. If his health & overall desire is there he be a phenomenal hire.

If we end up going to the Prohm, I suspect year 1 will be pretty rough maybe like his 2nd year at Iowa State when they went 13-17 or something like that. That’s not a knock, I just think the transition will be a little tougher than if we get one of the big guns.

I would be elated. I’m not sure how anyone could be upset with that hire. Squeaky clean record and a fantastic resume at a program with a similar background.

Alabama athletics director @Greg_Byrne will have a press conference later today to “review the process” for hiring a new basketball coach. That does *not* mean announcing a hire.

I like this by Byrne. This guy has his ducks in a row, has a plan & vision for our basketball program. This is also great advertisement for our program.

It's seems like that's become a requirement to have success in cbb.

Thad Matta would be an absolute grand slam hire if he is healthy and fully committed to being back in the game.

Hearing that Thad Matta is in town and is a clear favorite ATM. Like all #sauces, take that for what it’s worth.
