Bama isn't poor, but we're not paying $69 million for a guy to hook up a U-Haul trailer.
Buyout clauses are the worst thing ever in college football...worse than NIL, worse than the transfer portal...because the insanity in coaching contracts lead directly to all the current BS. Schools let the Jimmy Sextons of the world F them over to create a "new norm." Basically fully guaranteed contracts are complete BS. I think success warrants huge salaries...but failure doesn't deserve a golden parachute.

After the 1ST Drive! Dear Lord we’re cooked.

They overdosed on rat poison from idiots like Josh Pate. They were complacent long before that game was ever played.

To put it succinctly: this would have never happened under Saban or any other boot stomping coach.

We can't. It's that simple. Byrne was literally begging fans for more NIL money last year.

"I think that we got a little complacent and we thought that we won on the first drive, and that's not how it is. Credit to those guys – they played hard for four quarters. We kind of took it for granted. We got to sit here and finish drives. The first drive, no negative plays – and we just got to keep going."
Couldn’t fathom a player saying something like this with Saban leading. There is no level of football where the game is over when the first team scores in the first quarter! For him to say this is on the coaches. This feels a lot like the 2000 squad.

He’s gonna have some serious begging to do now because that faucet is gonna turn off quickly

Saban giveth and Saban taketh away. You can draw a straight line between the contact he was given in 2007 and where we are now. His was the first fully guaranteed deal. It was the right deal to the right guy and ensured our meddling boosters would stay out of his business. Then it became the norm and you have Jimbo’s dumbass getting paid like he’s Saban.

It's true...the Saban/Sexton connection destroyed anything approaching rational in coaching contracts.
Every shitty coach out there that managed a power 4 head coaching gig can thank Saban for being a
multi-millionaire. Sure, tv money increased, but it was the insane level of success by Saban that let the Jimmy Sextons of the world F over every school trying desperately to emulate that success.

It is a shitload of money for any school. Aggy was forced to stick it out with Jimbo because of the insane contract they gave him. DeBoer isn't going anywhere after this year or next.

The captain of the team and starting QB said we got complacent after a 15-play TD drive; in which our opponents immediately responded with a TD drive of their own.
Seriously, open up the QB competition and let Mack and Keelon have a legitimate chance because this guy isn't gonna win us any games and with our head coach's buddy Wommack running our defense?
We need a winner at QB not a manager.
You defended Milroe throughout his period as a confirmed locker room cancer and even through the last three games when he had 1 passing touchdown to 11 turnovers. Simpson didn't play well but it's odd that you and so many others are holding him to a completely different standard. I know why it is that way, but it's still odd

I 100% think this is just message board rumor nonsense but I’m trying to heal myself with humor after getting rained on in Tallahassee
It 100% is just like the ridiculous "Milroe held the team hostage" rumors.
On paper, Deboer was the better choice. Kiffin shouldn't have even made the top 5 when you consider how many times he shite the bed with Jackson Dart.

Yep....his two recommendations at QB have something in common with him as well.

Wrong. Same standard I held Milroe to last year when he fell apart.
The issue with Ty is he has never looked it but me included believed he should have been the guy.
We have a really bad defense. We can't win with a guy who can't do something special to win games.
This is why Saban and KDB picked Milroe over him. Not that bullshite you and others made up of Milroe being a lockerroom cancer. Not the ullshit of him blackmailing coaches.
Why did you guys make up such lies when the truth was we had poor options at QB?

They are the only 2 QBs left. So if Ty isn't gonna win a game for this bad DC and defense who else can?
Ironic you guys only can think by seeing race and can't grasp I just care about winning... you're only projecting who YOU are.

Yup, TAMU knew they were through with him about a year or two before they fired him but needed to chew down the lump sum to something they could stomach. Alabama isn't a poverty program but 70+ million dollars to tell a whole coaching staff to kick rocks is beyond the pale for any school.
We're likely stuck with DeBoer for 1 or 2 more seasons despite him clearly doing longterm damage to the program. It sucks but it is probably the reality of it. I hope that the damage done is not going to put us behind the 8ball for a generation.
