Check my posting history. I wanted Ty. I still do.

All I did was get behind the guy the put out there but I can speak for me and a few others. We were tired of Milroe after that fumble against Michigan last year.

I get it though. The hate for me I mean lol

I typically enjoy your posts. I agree with the idea of being able to criticize openly whomever I choose as I see it.

I don't really take it personally. I just want Alabama to win. Period.

What I take personally is when other teams insult us

For some reason I feel like Mack becomes a legend if he starts. Something about him makes me want to see him play.

His deep ball touchdown in back corner was a perfect throw.
I thought the exact same thing when I saw it!
The kid carries himself with a high degree of confidence, and his footwork seems calculated and precise.

Thought it was interesting when Penix said he’d be a household name. That doesn’t happen often. He wasn’t even the backup at Washington.

I've probably been the biggest Ty supporter here, but if he doesn't win the job, then so be it. I want whoever is best. I also think Deboer is in a better situation next year and won't absolutely refuse to give someone else a shot if the starter isn't getting it done.

All that said, I think Ty wins the job fairly easily. There's a reason he's stuck around and it isn't because he hasn't had plenty of other offers.

I think there are far worse posters on this board.

I have a feeling Ty wins it as well. I think you're spot on. He could've left many times and stuck it out for a reason. I have a sneaky suspicion we are going to have Mac Jones Flashbacks with Ty at the helm. Everyone will expect him to kind of placehold for the young hot shot QB coming in; and he will have a really nice year and solidify himself as QB1 early. Is his anything more than a hunch? No. Is this probably wishful thinking? Yes. However, there are some similarities.

I agree. I just think Ty Simpson has been for a while and should be ready to go.

Also this is the path of lease attrition because if the freshmen or Mack is given the reigns it triggers and mass exodus.

If Ty isn't convincing we can always move to the other two in season

Idk. I'm not saying qbs from small schools can't be good. They can. But as the starting qb in a school where there are only 500 students and he only has to be 1 out of 500 to win the job. A guy that played at a high school where there are 2800 students had to be 1 out of 2800 (I realize some of those students are girls and therefore the ratios aren't exactly correct but you get the point).
Ty did win their 1st and only state championship in 2021. I'll cede that point and Westview hasn't been great after him.
Mack played for a football power, though. It seems to me that playing qb at scrubby Westview High School isn't as impressive as playing for a high school power like Folsom. Maybe it's just me. Does that translate into greatness necessarily? No. Stetson Bennett played for a high school in a town with a population of only 3k. He did alright, I guess.

All that was taken into account before he was rated a 5* QB and projected as a future NFL player.

Hoping Ty has a Mac Jones like season next year.

Probably not as dominant, but good enough to go undefeated.

Serious question: In the portal era, is it really a good thing for programs to try to assemble a room full of 5-star quarterbacks? When someone who doesn’t get his chance ASAP can bug out rather than having to wait for his chance?

OK. I get that. There are guys that come from all over the country from big cities to small towns alike and make it to the NFL. However, when I hear a player played high school at Chaminade-Madonna, IMG, St Thomas Aquinas, Bishop Gorman, Mater Dei, I think more polished. It just takes more talent to play at those schools than it does smaller schools.

That's true, but after 3 full years of college, all of that should be a moot point.

Maybe he was overrated as a 5*, but it's unlikely he wasn't at least a 4* level talent.

Of course, stars don't mean anything once they're on the team. But, from everything I've ever heard, the coaches have always loved him. He had the unfortunate luck of being a RsFr in 2023, and likely was still adjusting since, as you pointed out, he did come from a small school. Then, from what I heard, he was ready last year, but Deboer obviously felt he needed to stick with the incumbent, heisman hopeful rather than switch everything up in year one. I still thought he might eventually get to play, but maybe the Ty game plan is so different than the Jalen game plan, they didn't think the team could run it, without a lot of practice? I don't know. Just guessing.

Anyway, like I said, I just want the best guy to play. I think that will be Ty, but I could be wrong.

I want the best guy too. I never considered the lack of prep the team got because of Milroe. That's a good point.

Why practice route trees that the WRs will never run because of the qb? Why even teach them?

I hadn't thought of it in that way. I'd only considered it from the perspective of the qb, not the skill guys.

But back to Ty, I'm not saying he can't play. Not at all. I've said before that I haven't seen him much. I don't watch spring games much. I did see Mack in high school though.
