And we should have an all out battle for the job and I am pumped about that.

Lonergan being between Ty and Mack makes it unlikely Mack starts when you have the clear second string guy this year who's likely further along in development. Not many 19 year olds leap the 22 year old when they're both blue chips

This is probably less of a battle than people expect. The real battle will be between Mack and Keelon for QB2, and that likely goes the same way Sayin/Devin Brown went

Maybe so but given the new NIL/portal era maybe the old “rules” need revision?

Because that worked out so well for OU sending off Dillion Gabriel for Jackson Arnold?

Point taken.

Again, may the best man win the job. I got downvoted for saying that but I truly mean it. I want the best QB on the roster, the man who goes out and wins the job, to be No. 1. And I only care that his jersey is Crimson, I don’t give six cacas what number he wears or what class he’s in.

We haven't been permitted to see any of them in a single meaningful snap. I don't really feel like I can hazard a guess.

Odd situation; if Keelon comes out and is clearly the best qb, then Ty and Mack transfer and we have 1 scholarship qb

Coach has already pretty much figured out which QB's gonna fit his system, and the individual players he'll have for them to work with. We doubtfully will hear a word about what he and his staff are really thinking until we get into spring practice.

What's crazy is he would've been perfect for DeBoer's system. He's accurate and just mobile enough to be able to beat man coverage with his legs if his WRs are covered.
Edit:
With that said, I think Mack wins the job. Simpson is from a high school with a little over 500 enrollment.

Is anyone concerned about the level of competition that Simpson played in high school? I only ask because Coach DeBoer's success at NAIA is dismissed by some on here.

I think this is why Russell has to redshirt. If he's willing.

Ty has been QB2 for 2 seasons now with the best talent in America. I’m sure he’ll be fine.

For some reason I feel like Mack becomes a legend if he starts. Something about him makes me want to see him play.

His deep ball touchdown in back corner was a perfect throw.

I think he's implying that he thinks your judgment of talent isn't good and wants the opposite of what you want because of that.

He doesn't sound triggered.

Ty will have been doing scrimmages against our entire defensive cupboard of four and five stars for four years by the start of next season

I don't see why I should be concerned about the talent a guy was playing against four years ago

I've been mainly correct in what I say. I just don't say it nice and people don't like that.

Due to this (and other reasons) they get angry when I say something factual and misinterpret what I say because they can't actually address what I have said.

They did the same and hate me with BOB when he wasted all that offensive first round talent. They did the same and hated me when I was on Golding half a decade ago. They hated me for calling out Rees (who has been better than Sheridan!) and Saban let his arse go immediately after the season.

Etc etc..

I could care less because most of these dudes don't know shite and basically attack anyone who says something correct but goes against their feelings and bias.

If you notice if someone like Twisted has a discussion with me, it's usually sensible because he is knowledgeable. When it's just some fat drunk who knows shite about football but "run da bawl" IDGAF.

Yeah it has to be him.

Let the freshman and Mack push Ty but Ty should be ready by now to take the reigns. If he falters in season we have two great options to pivot to.

I think probably ty, as he is an extremely good runner. He's not super fast like milroe but he's a better runner in my opinion, knows when to run, is shiftier and more elusive. With that said I didn't really care who it is as long as they can read a defense and make the right play

Agree. He just looked the part to me. I saw him play once at Folsom and couldn't get over his size. If I'd known he was going to BAMA I would've paid closer attention, but I was there with a date watching her son play.

Mack had a tough draw in the playoffs. He lost to De La Salle in the semis his Jr year by a FG. De La Salle got beat that year in the Championship game. The next season Folsom won it all (despite losing to De La Salle again in the regular season), but Mack was in Seattle.

I understand where you are coming from, but when you say it like this most people just assume you’re flaming.

None of us here have any insight into what’s actually happening in the QB room or beyond. We may have a little ball knowledge from playing, but I think we can all agree that we need a QB who can play the position to its full extent.

A lot of people want Ty because of this situation we’ve been in with Milroe. It wasn’t as much as “TY IS HIM” as much as it is “Ty can’t be any worse than this”.

Now in terms of comparing Ty to Mack or anyone else we have absolutely no stick to rule them. No tape other than garbage time throws.

If it were me, I’d play both QBs in the first game, but then again I’m not a cfb head coach or any coach for that matter. I’m just a dude that loves Alabama football. Roll Tide.

I typically enjoy your posts. I agree with the idea of being able to criticize openly whomever I choose as I see it.
