Am I the only person feeling good? How many teams with bama face with the length of Purdue? How many will bama face with a sniper guard and the big men? I liked the intensity and defense in the second half. It felt like we were outmatched the entire game and stuck through it until late.

They have beaten us 3 times in a row in the exact same manner

Our next opponent is even bigger. And Gonzaga has a stud 7 footer in Ike.

Could always be worse but I don’t put much stock into home games. Now if this was the performance on the road I’d feel a little better. I’m not down on the team but I’m not sugar coating or taking a moral victory lap after getting the frick beat out of you on the boards and losing at home as a top 10 team

I'm definitely not feeling really bad or anything close to that. We've got a really good basketball team, lotta growing to do, but a lotta room to do it.

It’s a fair question the body of work isn’t there yet that I’ve watched to say yes or no. Oats recruited them and he recruits shooters so I give them the benefit of the doubt until they prove him wrong

So we’ll either go to the final four or elite 8? Cool

In tournament time, the refs don’t allow bigs to grab and pull as much.

And that’s why Purdue generally gets run out pretty early.

On a night where Philon and Trelly were a combined 30% or so from the floor, we were tied with #1/#2 with under 2 minutes left. I'm not too concerned at this time personally. Get Bethea and Bristow back to add some size, length, and depth and we'll be fine.

I still think this team will win a ton of games and beat a lot of good teams. But I also think the same type of teams will continue to beat us. We have two stretch 5s at center. Both would prefer to spot up for 3 instead of banging for boards. That's not going to cut it against the same teams that have beaten us in the past

Nate Oats is the program and complacent is the last word I'd use to describe him.

It’s just weird we keep losing to Purdue. They’re good but we beat better programs but can’t beat them.

In basketball, sometimes teams just match up terribly against you. And our Purdue's huge physical frontcourt is our kryptonite. We had Bol Bowen playing key minutes at five, when he looks like a stick compared to TKR. While they were playing a dude that's 7'4".

We really need to get Bristow back.

Oats doesn’t recruit big men that have the body type to compete against what Purdue and Painter bring to the table. It is what it is. Same reason Golden has his number too. Just gotta hope come tournament time that we can avoid teams that have multiple good bigs.

Florida was an anomaly last year as they had that and amazing guard play. UConn as well to a lesser extent, but better coaching and bigs.

The way Purdue plays doesn’t translate to the tourney. They’ll be run by the elite 8.

But that doesn’t excuse our weakness. I think we took a gamble on Noah and he’s not really like that. It’s a long season so maybe he can develop. But holy shite are we thin at big.

My only hope(that I’m legitimately realistically hopeful for) is that Bethea is a game changer and can swing games like this one.

even with the rebound disparity, they were only 3 of the bookoos of missed 3's from victory.
