Touchdown Alabama reporting Malachi is fine??? Is that correct

It's wishful thinking but maybe Key is fine so there's nothing to report. I hope he's fine because that kid brings the defense to another level.

Someone on BOL said Moore and McKinstry were posting on social media after the game like they were fine.

Maybe Key is high ankle and Moore is fine. Update would be incredible

Jesus. I hope they didn't have to amputate the entire leg.

And edited to add - there were 2 targeting reviews last night - the refs got them both wrong - pathetic
I was in the stands but agree 100%. The last one marked every box for targeting.

Right side of OL was not good. Even Latham didn’t have a great game…but my goodness Dalcourt was AWFUL

Open field tackles…
We can make them. This is HUGE.
Also, Caleb Downs is a certified baller

Could have been. I haven’t heard anything.

I was very impressed with Key and Amos, I hope Key is okay. Key and Downs is one heckuva starting duo. This secondary is awesome!

I think MTSU had something to do with it. They were sold out to stopping the run and that seems to be their defensive identity in general anyway. We will start to learn more about this team soon. From the stands, it felt like we were sorta stubborn with what we were going to do playcalling-wise on both sides of the ball.
Not much personnel adjustments. Very little playcalling adjustments. They had seemed to have a play sheet built to be as vanilla as possible and put the onus on the individual matchups being won enough to not matter.

I just went back and looked at team stats from last year… interesting stuff.
Defense was elite against bad teams but mediocre-terrible against good and elite offenses.
Biggest takeaway though… 3rd down conversion percentage offensively was a joke.
Bryce had no one he could trust or no true Go-To guy in the crunch. We did best on 3rd downs against MTSU.
Imo 3rd down conversions is the biggest thing to watch against Texas. If we can move the chains on 3rd downs we are already a better team.
Edit: I think we will be better at limiting the big plays to this season. Quick pressures on the QB via blitzes off the edge instead of delayed blitzes gives them less time to make deep throws. Also, safety play seems better already.

TIFWIW guy on TI that is usually good on injury news said he expects all 3 injured guys to be good to go.

Getting back on topic, I noticed that Benson wasn’t targeted once last night. He’s probably the most explosive of the wide receivers. Bond and Burton showed their ability last night but Benson could be that X Factor. He was in the game on Niblack’s touchdown pass. I get the feeling that we ran a pretty simple game plan last night.

We ran a very vanilla offense. More to come.

One huge takeaway from last night is someone finally missed a FG attempt against us.
And it was a chip shot. Unfortunately we used up our freebie in a meaningless OOC cupcake game and will now be subjected to average kickers drilling a dozen 50+ yarders against us the rest of the season.
And Auburn (Texass kicker) is not average. The kid has a leg to match his perm-skrong. Reichard is money but let's not get into a FG kicking contest with them. Weird shite happens when we start relying on special teams to win games.

He definitely was at least once.
