Please elaborate
The ONLY reason his name is being suggested is because he was a student manager or some shite at UA years ago. If that's your claim to fame, then this job isn't for you. There will be no excitement surrounding the program if he is hired.

Alabama aimed high in this search, making overtures to South Carolina's Steve Spurrier and Nick Saban of the Miami Dolphins. Neither high-profile coach wanted to leave his current post.

He was a student assistant coach/manager for 5 years and graduated from Alabama. He's done well at Murray State but I think his Bama ties are what is getting his name brought up.

I have never seen Prohm coach a single game, so I have no idea if he is good or not.
It appears he spent most of his time under Billy Kennedy.

Good rule of thumb: take the alma mater off the resume of a candidate. If you still would hire him, then do it.
The only time you should consider where a coach went to school is when all things are equal.

I just hope all of the negative nancies on here give the new coach a fair chance before they cry about how terrible the hire is. There are names on the list that I'm certainly less excited about, but if they get hired, it's done at that point and negativity will do nothing but make it tougher for him to succeed. In this day of social media, the fan reaction and attitude is immediately picked up by the media and spread everywhere. That will affect not only the perception of the program with other fans, but also recruiting. So let's ALL give the new coach our support until he proves he doesn't deserve it. That includes me.
Besides, I think Marshall was probably the safest bet to be a great coach at Bama. But, that doesn't mean some of the other guys can't actually END UP being just as good or better. It also doesn't mean Marshall couldn't have underwhelmed. He struggled to beat Grant, afterall.

He was already making at least 3.9, so I'm not sure if that's a Bama raise. Now if Sean Miller gets a million raise, he owes battle some Omaha steaks

I won't like it if we hired Prohm, but I'd still support him and the program. The only 2 coaches I absolutely won't support are Gottfried and Stansbury.

Odd timing to extend and raise him this year, his worst year in some time, instead of last year when he won the SEC and had Florida rolling.

Is Lucky or anybody else saying anything about other candidates? Time to move on from Marshall.

Everyone except for Miller....

I've seen him mentioned here a couple times.. But what's the thought on Michael White? I know his resume is short, but he took over a pretty crappy LA Tech team (previous coach won 43% of his games) and turned it around as opposed to coaches who took over these good mid majors and kept them good.
ETA: Only coach in school history with a > 70% win percentage.

Well if that happened, I'd probably just pretend basketball doesn't exist.

I have wanted White since last year. However, I think Alabama should try for Archie Miller first

White and Miller would get me very excited. Prohm is just meh... Think he could do OK but never great.

He's only getting paid 600k a year. I think we could snag him. La Tech won't open their pocketbooks like WSU did.

He turned down the Tennessee job last year so it might take some money to pull it off
