That's pretty encouraging to hear for an Alabama fan right now. I think we will end up getting one of either Marshall or Miller.

Does anyone know much about these guys style of play? Don't know much about these coaches except the schools they coach at and their recent success

As I've said all along, Alabama will step up financially to attract the candidate it feels is best for the opening. They did not fire Anthony Grant to tread water. You have to be wary about putting a firm $ figure on it, because those things get negotiated along the way. Certainly, many people, feel that Geegg Marshall is the best coach available who is likely to move. He won't be at Wichita forever, regardless of what happens this off-\season. Does he want $3 million a year? 4 million? Those things get negotiated. Would Wichita match a "crazy offer?" Don't know.

Sometimes, coaches like to be perceived as the "top guy." Shaka Smart doesn't want to be a second choice, one would think.

Archie Miller is a promising young coach and Alabama is aware of that.

Gregg then Archie.

That's exactly what I've been asking for all along.

If we get one of them and they burn out here, I will take full blame.

Everything I've read about this coaching search sounds so generic and non-detailed. Doesn't sound like anyone knows shite.

Not comparing, but the quiet and waiting remind me of December 2006.

I don't think anyone really knows what the highest amount we're willing to offer is and how Marshall will react. Typically during our coaching searches, we're going after much more realistic options.

Not much can be said until Marshall can actually consider and discuss the offer.

Yeah, we're at the point where nothing else can happen until Wichita State loses.

Yeah, there really isn't anything else to discuss at this point. There won't be any developments or new "leaks" of inside info until Wichita State is out of the tournament. We're all just waiting.

I do think its interesting that guys like Cecil, Rodney Orr, and Lucky seem to be in agreement that Alabama is in great shape to land Marshall. There is a lot of confidence from our side.

Shaka's name has fallen fast. I wonder if that is due to our confidence in landing Marshal and/or he doesn't want to be perceived as a Plan B candidate.

The four names on tidesports that are now labeled at "hot" are Marshall, Prohm, Miller, and Smart.

I will shite my pants if Marshall really comes to Alabama. I still will be excited about the others as well...Just glad we finally have a change. And we aren't settling for the easy hire sunbelt coaches

Which of these 4 doesn't belong?

Smart. Vcu has a terrible track record of coaches failing elsewhere.

I'm starting to believe Marshall will happen. My only fear is Texas firing Barnes later this week. In hat case, I hope its Archie.

Why would Texas be waiting so long to make a move? If they don't do it tomorrow and Wichita loses, firing Barnes Friday would put them behind and in a position where they might miss due to waiting too long. We've been putting feelers out and actively searching for two weeks.

Just seems odd.

Supposedly his buyout goes down like 250K on April 1st. If Wichita loses tomorrow, I imagine they'll go ahead and fire him if that's who they are hoping to get.

I'm not AS high on Smart as some, but c'mon. Picking Prohm over Smart is like eating dog food instead of a steak dinner.

He goes full tard every once in a while so I could see him legitimately thinking Prohm has a better resume. There's a guy on bamamag that's dead set on hiring Prohm because his resume is just as good as Marshall and Smart's

It is obvious the coach that we are after is still in the tournament. I just hope there has been some positive feedback to justify this holding pattern. The things that I have heard have given me reason to be confident ... but this boils down to a family decision for every coach. In the end our fate may lay in the hands of a couple of teenagers.
