I would love to get Shaka. I honestly want him over Marshall.

WHAT?? lol

Marshall has taken inferior players to Shaka's (& yes VCU is a well storied Bball program that was in good shape when AG left) & made it to the pinnacle of college bball several years in a row

UT has gotta add 1.5 mil onto their offer for RS's buyout & for a guy that makes the dance every year & has had a few pretty good NBA players and 1 possible HOF NBA player under his belt...that is a tough pill to swallow even for Texas.

That being said...it is STILL freakin Texas

I still plan to be letdown by hiring Prohm.

Hopefully we won't just offer Marshall 4 million and then if/when we get rejected, immediately settle with Prohm for 1 million. If Marshall says no, I'm hopeful we just move onto the next big fish.

What is Grant's buyout? $4m? Bama isn't off the hook for him and $4m is more than $1.5M. Love Bama but no one wants a bidding war with them. They wouldn't have beaten us in a war for Saban b/c Bama would have paid whatever. There IS a limit to what we'll pay for bball.

I hope so. Even if no Archie Miller after Marshall & Smart there are plenty better candidates than Prohm.

I love how people, particularly on the rant keep bringing up the (dirty fricking) Koch brothers. Just because you have a rich alum, doesn't mean they are going to give millions to their athletic department.

Auburn fans live to bring up Tim Cook. Like a gay computer nerd running a multi billion dollar computer company cares about college football.

It is like people go out of their way to ignore things that go against their argument.

Parrish & Norlander both discussed that the Koch brother don't care about basketball. They aren't gonna get a bidding war.

Marshall has had better players.

Cleanthony Early
Fred Van Vleet
& Ron Baker

All 3 have been better than any guy Shaka has had

What happened to all the Tom Crean chatter?

Not that I want him or anything. His name had a lot of hype behind it when he was in the tournament but now that he is out....almost nothing. Hopefully we aren't using him as a back up plan.

RTR, was that a VIP article? Recently cancelled my subscription to them and haven't ventured over since... If they have decent free bball articles I'll start going back over there to them for those. I can get the jist of their football posts anywhere, but when Walsh left their coverage of other sports went downhill

It was a post from a poster named "Lucky". I'm new browsing the site but apparently he knows his stuff. I'm skeptical though.

Gotcha. That would explain why he is so trusted by the other posters.

Our staff and the Wichita staff hated one another right? Or was that just a rumor.

Suppose for a minute Marshall turns us down. Does anybody think with that kind of offer on the table, other big fish might contact us to express interest?

I used to be a big Shaka fan. I've cooled on him greatly. Let me list some former VCU coaches for you. Sonny Smith, Jeff Capel, Anthony Grant to name a few. All pretty much tanked after they left the Rams. I'd rather gamble on Miller or Jacobson if we're going the mid-major route.

Larry Sanders was better than all 3.

I only remember seeing him a few times in college, so I am not sure. As a NBA level talent, sure.

Ron Baker and Van Vleet are pretty damn good. Early's game against Kentucky last season was one of the most impressive performances in the tournament I've seen in the last couple of years.
