he has a personality where as aG has chit for a personality. That hire seemed good to us normal fans but whoever vetted his personality made a terrible recommendation. If it came from a search firm I hope Bama never uses them again.

Even PF knew people to call who knew AG and how lazy he was when it comes to going out of his way to PR his program

You guys throwing out this $4 million number are either delusional or retarded.

The basketball program only profited a couple of million last year, and will probably lose money this year AND will be paying Grant $1 million per year through 2019. $4 million is NOT in the budget. Period.

You're the idiot.

First of all, Grant's buyout will be offset by whatever future earnings he gets. So it won't be $4 million. Secondly, the ball program made $8 million last year...and we weren't very good. So dropping $3.5-4 million can be seen as an investment. Not to mention the entire AD made $30 million and that doesn't factor in what money we'll get from the SEC Network.

You are underestimating our bank account.

Lucky just posted on BOL that Marshall is still at the top of the board and his job to turn down. Battle expect to make offer in the range of $3-$4 Million. A decision should be made within 28-48 hours if/when Wichita State gets eliminated. Tom Cream looking less of an option by the day. If Marshall turns down job Shaka Smart continues to show serious interest and if Marshall declines job our next coach could very well be Shaka Smart.

If Smart has legitimate interest, I wouldn't wait if I was Battle. I'd want to act before a school like Texas makes a coaching change.

I'd assume the expectation is that WSU's season will end this weekend.. If it doesn't, I think Smart's name will heat up even more.

I don't know. Wichita State can play with Kansas and the Jayhawks are prone to early exits. Marshall may still be occupied after this weekend. If not, we'll probably have a coach by next week.

To anyone that has access to 247, there's a thread that says one name remains on top for the coaching search. Can someone summarize that for us

It's Greg Marshall. I summarized the article a few posts back.

No problem. I'm kinda excited about Shaka Smart though if indeed he is interested

I'd jump on Shaka now. Make the splash and hit the road recruiting.

Hate to be a Debbie downer but I see no way Marshall or Smart come to Bama. Hope I am wrong though

The biggest problem with Marshall is going to be the fact that the Koch brothers are alums and supporters of Wichita State. Any offer we make, they can match and not break a sweat. We may be wasting our time with Marshall.

The beauty of this search is that you nor Debbie Downer is in charge .

Everything that I can gather is that we want Marshall but Smart might be easier to get and has expressed interest.

Assuming some other big time job doesn't come into play, I think we'll land either one of those.

I'm really hopeful Texas and Indiana don't make moves. I don't think we have a great shot with either Marshall or Smart, but if those jobs came open, it'd be impossible.
