I'm uncharacteristically optimistic that one happens.

That sounds plausible. Maybe I'm being naive but the fact that Saab, Bray, Pierre & others haven't announced anything yet leads me to believe they're staying.

My read is we can afford the elite level HS kids but not the portal kids. So we reallly have to work on retaining players going forward and keeping them out of the portal. Only way we can compete in this new era

So if that’s the plan then do we have confidence in this staff to do that?

Unfortunately we cant afford both.
Cant pay enough for a top HS class then pay to retain them while paying for the next top HS class.

And that #2 recruiting class wont mean shite if we cant develop and use them correctly and keep them. Unless something changes, I dont trust this staff to do that.

Zero reason to freak out early in the portal window period at WR right now and anyone who expected to get Coleman wasn’t listening to any of the experts all of whom said he wasn’t coming here because we weren’t going to meet his asking price.

Right. I’m not freaking out about WR but I am about OL and DL.
Time to panic about the trenches which is vastly more important.

I’ve been panic level concerned about the OL all season.

I’d be more concerned if we weren’t cleaning house though, this to me tells me they realize how serious the situation is and aren’t just maintaining status quo.

You really need to forget that because it is not going to happen.

There is still some time for declarations to transfer and possibilities to land worthy players. Jan 16

The amount of transfers, even if the assumption is they are back ups and nobodies, is still alarming when compared to the players coming in.

We can land players as long as they're already in the portal by the 16th. 16th is just the cutoff to enter.

Kalen has to upgrade this staff this cycle. Assistant coaching is going to be more important than ever going forward. You have to make those players you have. better. Sound simple. We no limit on assistant coaches (recruiting only) there is zero excuses for players not being fundamentally sound in every phase. Our team doesn't pass that test.

Texas RB Christian Clark is expected to enter the portal. BOL says he has interest in us. He rushed for over 100 yards against Michigan in the bowl game.

Possible some Big Dogs are just sitting on the porch waiting to get the big dollars.

Hope Bama doesn't have some of those.

The only way to fix it is through a collective agreement with the players and the colleges especially in the South are not going to have that.

No knight on a white horse …not even almighty Nick Saban … is going to ride in and overturn what the courts have done.

That trophy case is irrelevant at the moment when the current staff wasn’t responsible for filling it.

It's irrelevant regardless.

All of our fancy facilities, Cryotherapy chamber, sensory deprivation tanks, weight room, nutritionists, players lounge, fancy lockers, etc.

ALL OF IT IS IRRELEVANT.

The only thing that matters now is $$$. How much are you gonna pay a player - that's all that matters. The top QB in the nation would just as soon go to Grambling State if the money was right.

Absolutely, I imagine we ALREADY spent a large percentage of this year's NIL on the recruiting class and to retain some guys. We HAVE to be able to coach what we have coming in much better until we can afford to adjust how we bring guys in.
