He’s going to cost too much when we have good WR. We need trench players and LBs. lost all three starters and thin at bandit.
Agreed. Not interested in overspending at WR when we have so much work to do at the LOS.

Chester as an IOL would be a solid piece. He's not going to get it done at tackle. We will see.

Sounds about right. When I was in middle school the best athletes wanted to be in band or run from the cops
I told my parents as soon as I could drive I was going to commute to Tuscaloosa every day to play ball. Then we actually got good right as I hit highschool 01-04. I think that’s the last time they were worth a damn.
My little brother graduated in 08 and they were already trash again.

I’m pretty sure he didn’t chase money. He thought Wommack’s scheme was a poor fit and wouldn’t prepare him for the NFL.
Thats utterly ridiculous. Do you really think Downs sat down and studied Wommack's defense? Hell he might have left before Wommack was even hired.

He did. Which is fine. He had a big offer from Ohio State, he was a Saban guy, and he took it. But any suggestion that he made the decision because he could be developed better there is absurd, because he was gone several weeks before Kane was hired.
I'd argue that he'd have made way more plays in this defense had he stayed, and he'd have been a top-15 pick from either place because of his ability. I don't have hard feelings, and it worked out just fine for him.

I agree that its fine. Folks can do what they want...but when hes done playing football, hes not gonna have a lifetime of good will and access to the program that true Bama players get. Ohio St will certainly give him that...but I doubt he wants to live in Ohio when he retires from football

Caleb Downs was a top 15 pick no matter where he played and no matter what scheme he played in at safety.
There is a reason he came in and started from game 1, snap 1 on a top end defense in 2023. He's legit.
He came to Alabama because of Saban's reputation for preparing DBs for the NFL and, frankly, Ohio State has a great reputation in that respect too. Once Saban was gone, he was Outtie 5000. Sucks but he made the right decision. He won a national title in Columbus but would've been on two good but not great teams in Tuscaloosa.

Seeing the word “resigned” will take some getting used to

Haven't checked recently, but Hubbard had better stats this year the last time I looked.

I mean technically. But raw stats don’t tell the whole story especially for DBs. Downs is a better player
However, I don’t think the gap between them is that massive at all. And thus (along with impact of the safety position) having Downs the last 2 years may not have made that much of a difference overall for the team

We actually felt the lack of Bond more in 2024 than the lack of Downs in 2024-25. That doesn’t mean Downs isn’t a likely all-pro caliber safety in the NFL (because I think he will be) but simply that we got some good transfers and existing depth panned out.

Riker would be a good guard option.
It's possible they'd put Riker at C and Strayhorn at RG next to Carroll.

Jacarrius Peak is firmly the #1 dude we need right now

Bama won 11 games due to Ty and they lost 4 due to Ty. Keep kissing the arse of the other two QB's. We shall see what next brings from your two boys.
You and Y might not like the comments.

I don’t think a single loss all season was “because of Ty.” We were deficient in multiple areas most of the year and unless those improve it won’t matter who the qB is.

Thompkins was one of the very best DL options in the portal. Peak is sorta the same at OT. Big need and probably going to be well shopped.

Was going to say the same thing about “re-signing”. Will we have to wait for these BS announcements every year now? Does that mean everyone is out unless they re-sign? Ridiculous..
