A majority of that list was drafted

Personally I’d put Anderson over Brooks

I disagree pretty vehemently, Brooks was arguably a game changer for us as a freshman. At least he was in our playoff game against OK. Anderson wasnt anything near that as a freshman.

Eta: sorry, im dumb. Thought you meant Lotzier instead of Jacorey.

I think only Baker was drafted.

People also forget Brooks saved us down in Auburn with an awesome catch in the corner of the end zone.

Absolutely ridiculous. We’ve turned this sport into introduction to being a mercenary. I have a real problem rooting for players when you can count the number of players who are at Alabama because they love it on one hand. Can we please have a governing body to stop some of this stupid shite?

I will preface this by saying the transfer portal needs to be fixed, but I understand why so many of them do it. Some may love the university they pick, some do it for the coach, but in the end the majority do it because they want to play with the slim chance of making it to the NFL.

How many of the players in the portal their coach left? How many never saw a snap or very few? How many were recruited at programs being told one thing and when they got there it was a lie.

I also do not blame players for wanting a piece of the action. Coaches are making eight figures and how many millions of dollars each program racks in via TV deals. Why should they not get paid. Every top program a kid commits to it is a job now. I am sure I am not the only one on this board that has left a job because they saw no future in their advancement.

The issue with the transfer portal for me is the free agency aspect of it. Players following the money. Until you get the NIL along with the pay for play model governed it will not change. But coaches that navigate the portal will find success and so far, I feel we have done a good job of bringing in the pieces needed.

DeBoer has seen 66 players leave via portal.

It's never going to be governed. No politician is going to attempt to stop players from making money. It plays well for one group.

That needs to be updated with how many flopped at their new schools.

Changing the calendar of when the portal is open doesn't prevent anyone from making money.

Also….Its crazy as Hell that a few of the 66 transfers have been productive.

That should tell you all you need to know about the culture that Bama had. We had talented folks but they let NIL go to their heads and didn’t want to work for it.

The best players on our roster were Washington transfers in. Players who weren’t top tier but worked hard for their money vs being rewarded bc they beat up HS talent.

It will but it will be done by the powers to be in CFB. It cannot sustain at the rate it is going and more so than not the investment being made in these transfers is not a great ROI.

Unfortunately, what is probably going to happen is player contracts via some sort of collective bargaining. The bright side to that though is when the dust settles it will create contracts with stipulations regarding transferring, performance, and other language that will put it back under control.

No but it will let everything settle post season including coaching changes and players that opt out for the draft. Also it will allow players and staff a spring practice to go through to determine if they should stay for the fall or leave.

Saban basically was doing this his first few years where we got blasted for his gray shirting practices.

Brooks problem like so many others is he had the athletic ability to be a player, but he didn't have the drive to be great nor the discipline. No Julio in Brooks,

Brooks types are the future while the Julio's are history. It's society and it will only get worse.

Julio was a generational player and they are still out there.

See Jeremiah Smith, See Cam Coleman

I believe that Ced Morgan has that work ethic.

Cam is a slacker. He plays when he wants to play and takes off as many as he plays.

This is not exactly true. Schools DO make millions off of tv revenue and there would be no revenue or program without the players. On the other hand, schools spend a fortune on facilities, staff, academic support, athletic trainers/medical staff, dieticians, etc. None of this stuff is "free". Most programs are in the red each year, so to say the schools are profiting millions is simply not true.

Even Alabama, which I thought was in "the black" is apparently broke. Of course, I have to wonder if there's some mismanagement going on here but that's another story.
