You could see it from his HS film. He has great touch and anticipation on his throws

Georgia's TEs are a bigger threat than their receivers. These 2 teams are a lot alike. Bama's TE group is nasty and they make the biggest difference in our running game. This years Bama team reminds me of 2016 with their love of violence.

spent the last weeks trying to figure out Keelon's weakness

He doesn't have a physical one. He only weakness is his inexperience. Kirby will show him packages he hasn't seen before.

Grubb will need to do his homework this week preparing Keelon for Kirby's defense.

If we could use Milroe to run Deboer's offense against UGA and score at will for an entire half I think we can manage with Russell.

I expect to see a decent amount of runs from Russell early, especially if the traditional run game isn't super effective.

Well we don't know what we don't know. The first half of Milroe and Ty against UGA were complete beatdowns, then Kirby saw something, made an adjustment then every team from that point on had the blueprint to stop us.

It's why I hate playing Kirby mid-season. Those guys figure something out.

What I am hoping is what you're saying, there isn't anything to stop this kid and Grubb outside of ball control and getting pressure to move his launch point to impact his accuracy

No, it's his given name. He was mighty lucky with one of his catches against Vanderbilt this past weekend, though. He's an elite TE, we recruited him pretty heavily out of high school.

The Film Guy said uga has to squeeze the pocket and make KR12 stay in it. Despite seeing all the contested throws he has made so far that was his Rx.

I know that he isn't Kirby Smart, but he certainly sounds like he knows what he's taking about until he starts talking about how to stop BAMA's offense.

Keep KR12 in the pocket? Seriously? That sounds like throwing shite against the wall to see what sticks.

The only defense that's beating BAMA this season is the one that can play M2M consistently and bring extra help. I'm talking man free, cover zero sell out to stop the run and pressure the QB. Problem with that is you need 3 NFL corners and an NFL safety. The other problem with that is BAMA can get in 13 and have 8 nasty o-linemen on the field.

UGA / Kirby make great halftime adjustments. I want to see Grubb and company stacking plays that build off of each other and break tendencies 1st half to 2nd half. Use Kirby's adjustment against him.

Run counter from several different alignments that alter D cues against the same basic play.
Counter play action pass to the oposite field.
Counter to tunnel screen
Counter to TE slip dump
Counter to jet going backside.

If you can keep him in the pocket with good principles, it would work better than trying to get after him. Never go past him on the edge, work together to put the guards and center in his lap, force him to throw in a condensed pocket with no lanes of escape basically.

We did that to Dak Prescott two straight seasons. Those games were a master class of not letting a versatile QB make loose plays. In the 2nd game they probably sacked him 8-10 times with nothing but arse kicking mush rush with his guards and tackles getting the sack for us when they knocked him over.

Yeah I saw that and chuckled. A slow press of the pocket means Keelon will just sit back there and tear them apart.

If their planning to have safeties and and only bring 4 then it gives us pockets to run the ball which we will use play-action the moment they crowd the box

My thoughts exactly. I don't see uga's front 4 pushing our o-line into KR12 and him falling down.

So your strategy is push BAMA's o-line into KR12 and hope he falls down??

Are you serious Clark??

Agreed.

I loved how we immediately were in 13 personnel when State came in expecting us to attack deep. The moment those safeties moved up we drew them in with the action and threw right over their heads for the first TD.

With UGA I do wonder what they will be trying to take away first?

Their best bet is to blitz on every down and have tight man coverage on receivers and pray for throw-aways, sacks, or turnovers

What are these good principles? This kid has already shown that if you give him time you're already scored on.

Dakota Prescott is more Milroe than anything close to Keelon.

Honestly for me if I'm Kirby, I'm going to assume they're going to score most possessions so I need to limit them to FGs or make their drives long and time consuming.

Next point is the best defense will be the offense eating up as much clock as possible to limit the amount of possessions. Kirby knows we had 55 possessions and scored 49 points. That is mortifying against any P4 talk much a good team like State. Less possessions, less scores and keep some score to 3 instead of 7.

That's what I believe his path forward would be. As you said he is going to have to find a way to stunt and blitz to cause confusion to get a free man in on the QB. I also wouldn't be surprised if he is telling them to get killshots in because film don't lie.. that kid is brutal.

The alternative is the scramble drill. So you can essentially ask him to make 7 or 8 good reads and good throws on a drive, or you can let him get into the scramble drill where he has eviscerated everyone with chunk plays.

If I'm a DC, I'm taking option A every time. Sure, he's perfectly capable of killing you with 1,000 paper cuts but I'd prefer that than a bullet to the head

Again that sounds nice as a generic statement but go past that and talk tactically how that works?

Kirby likes to play man, so slow press of the pocket with man could be an attempt to keep Keelon from escaping and gashing them but if safeties are high we are running against that front.

If they bring safeties lower, Keelon is sitting comfortably while throwing over their safeties heads.

This kid give us that ability where whatever you key in on he can just adapt to the next thing.. well so far. If Kirby can find something then it will suck because everyone will copycat just as they have the last two seasons.
