That's great and all, but it's not reality. A state like ours unfortunately needs some government cheese.

Great news, but 6 years sure is a long time. I could see a couple of years, but 6? At the rate we're going, not sure the country will still be around in present form.

I would be willing to bet none of the people complaining have actually stepped foot in huntsville.

Huntsville's private job growth actually outpacing government jobs. But a lot of that has to do with the work force available due to said government jobs in the area.

Still the mix of jobs is diversifying in the future. The Toyota engine plant, and Toyota/Mazda manufacturing plant are huge. Polaris seems to be doing well. Remington on the other hand...

Laceys Spring is just south of the river and if you aren’t worried about schools anymore it’s on the cheaper side and you can find acreage if you want. There is an Arsenal gate on the south end and you can avoid most of the traffic and get out of town. That gate is currently closed due to COVID, but it will open when everyone comes back to work. I live further south after living in Madison for 13 years. When I go back there I am happy I don’t live there anymore. Too much traffic and stress. Once you get out of Huntsville and Madison, the people are just nicer. My whole attitude changes everyday as soon as I cross the river bridge headed south.

You can look at the Gurley / west Jackson County area for some acreage. You would have Hwy 72 to 565 to get to downtown, north, or west Huntsville. Hampton Cove will give you quicker access to south Huntsville.

Maybe someday Birmingham will build one decent road to try to catch up

It would not make a massive difference, but I do think it could still help if arsenal opened up that old gate just after the bridge on the parkway. I think it was permanently closed when I was still in high school.

We joke around and call it Larceny Springs. I'm originally from that area so I can say that.

I'm in another field but I thought UAH engineers could typically run circles around those from AU?

Yep. Huntsville has become the acquisition capital of for the DoD and then you also have SMDC, NASA, and MDA out here too. With its projected growth and workforce to draw from it's the no-brainer of the two.

Exciting, but on the other hand, the city growing out of control is making everything less affordable and straining the infrastructure.

UAH is probably one of the top engineering schools in the south but for some reason or another AU does a better job of advertising their program.

Like everything else in this country, the decision has to get political.

Colorado lawmakers blast Space Command decision, urge Biden to review

Hope Huntsville can still persuade them to come here, but I'm pessimistic with Biden in office.

Sure would love to see some job growth in SE Alabama. Nothing is coming to the Dothan area. It's all banks, churches, and restaurants down here.
