You can say that about a lot of counties in Alabama. The fact that it is on the Florida line still surprises me that they haven't had any least one. Defense still wins championships!

Before we try to make this virus racist, I believe we had better be up front on the pre-existing conditions of the unfortunate deaths. It's fairly well accepted that AA's tend to be more obese, more diabetic than whites. That's not a racist statement, it is fact. And since this virus has proven that obesity and diabetes plays a role in one's outlook, it's quite fair to say that this virus is not being specific to one community or another based solely on ethnic background.

We wouldn't want to disparage the reputation of the virus killing thousands of people.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons has begun reviewing all inmates at the Federal Correctional Complex at Butner who have COVID-19 risk factors with the possibility of home confinement during the cornavirus outbreak.
A press release states the move is at the directive of the state attorney general. Inmates do not need to apply to be considered for home confinement. Officials said case management staff are urgently reviewing all inmates to determine which ones meet the criteria established by the attorney general. The department has also increased resources to review and make appropriate determinations as soon as possible.
Officials said they do not have an estimate of the number of inmates from Butner who might be eligible.
This should be fun. The county and state prisons already offering early parole.

Crime victim advocates have contacted North Carolina’s 100 sheriffs asking them to notify victims of the impending or early release of inmates in response to the potential spread of COVID-19.
Apparently this is happening in other states as well.

It's pretty sad how much blame some of y'all are willing to lay at the feet of China and the WHO, while refusing to admit our own government failed us. Report after report of people both within the WH and in various federal agencies sounding the alarms in January that mostly went unheeded. Multiple governors, including our own, refusing to issue stay-at-home orders until the virus was already entrenched in their states.
ANd that's not to say China and the WHO aren't immune to criticism in their respective handling of it. It is to say that neither has as much of a vested interest in us, the people of the UNited States, as our elected officials do.

It is pretty sad that people think we need our government to hold our hand. Even before the stay at home orders many health outlets were already saying do the things the orders are now saying we have to. But people refused to adhere to those suggestions. Maybe or maybe not if people would have used common sense instead flocking to the beach or creating other large gatherings we would not be where we are today. But no we have many people in this country that lack common sense. It is not like we were as individuals unaware what was going on in the world and what other countries were doing to control it and prevent it but yet we needed the government to step in because so many can longer think for themselves.

You need to reword this based on your post not as much vested in us but we elect our officials to hold our hands and help us because we are becoming more of a flock that lack the common sense to think for ourselves.
Sorry I do not elect these so called officials to make decisions for me because I am incapable. I elect them(with the hope) to ensure that the I am freely able to make my on decisions without my rights being infringed on while understanding(common sense) how my actions may affect others as to not infringe on their rights.
