5 have died at East Alabama Medical Center since Friday.

Why isn’t the Alabama Department of Public Health saying anything about this?!?

Thanks sarge. I am only 44 yrs old but thanks to poor choices my lungs aren't in any shape to fight off a novel respiratory virus like this one. It was actually the good people on this very forum that urged me to go to the hospital and I am thankful that they did. I am in serious condition at one of Alabama's finest hospitals but I started a treatment plan consisting of plaquenil that we hope will do the job. I feel very sick but I don't feel like I am dying. Right now I am more worried about them canceling football season and I am only partially joking.

Because it is coming from the county coroner, which is an elected position and not a professional medical examiner. Lee county's is a retired paramedic.

Just a couple of days ago, a story went nationwide that a teen had died from it in Cali because the local health officials said that was the cause - only to later find out yeah, that may not actually have been the case.

ADPH's job is (or should be) to get it right, not first. They may all turn out to be COVID related and if so they will be reported.

Garbage!
Any chance that gets extended Eastward later tonight?
It seems like I've heard that it won't, but I didn't expect to see that many counties in Alabama under a watch

I haven't seen anything predicted any further than this yet. Hoping these storms die out as they move in. There was a brief tornado warning over near Batesville MS earlier that turned into a severe thunderstorm warning and that has been the southernmost warning that I have seen.

Perhaps, but the threat is lower the further east and south you go.

Several times last week at least two TV stations didn't have any of the Lee Co. data in their most impacted counties graphics even though they were near the top of all the AL counties.

Sorry I haven't really been posting much or talking about my condition outside of the main thread on the ot. My son in law is from Washington state and he and my daughter had been visiting his parents during the initial outbreak up there. So long story short, he comes home, gets sick and the health department refused to even test him but told him to go home and quarantine for two weeks. I didn't think much about visiting them and my granddaughter so I had visited a couple of times a couple of weeks ago. So I get sick, go to doctor and come back negative for flu but he has no way to test me for covid so he advises me to take off work and self quarantine a couple of weeks. I do that and a few days ago I started to get worse. I am currently hospitalized in serious condition but I don't feel like I am dying. I am in good spirits and though I have a couple of underlying issues I am certain that my condition will improve and I can go back home. My wife and two girls have it as well and have been tested. My kids have very minor symptoms and my wife feels like she has the flu.

In hindsight, I should have known not to visit my daughter but they had been in Washington for two weeks and I missed them. I post in the main ot thread like once per day because i am always trying to sleep. Sleeping at night is difficult because of a persistent cough. Anyways, I think I am gonna be fine and I am probably more worried that they cancel football season. I don't know how I feel about the government reaction to this pandemic specifically our state since we don't seem to have near as many cases as others do.
