There are plenty of things on there Pelosi knew wouldn’t get passed

Just like the riders that the Republicans famously put on the first bill (sponsored by Democrats) limiting late term abortions - forcing Clinton to veto it and then crucifying him in the media. The exact same bill basically was reintroduced and sponsored by Republicans and passed, as Bill C. signed it without the riders...as the Republicans wanted the credit through the whole farce.

This is all decades-old basic bipartisan sparring, and anyone falling for it or calling foul as if it's new is ridiculous. Both parties have been doing this for decades. It's bullshite, but it's not new, and both parties do it. Wake up.

Stop focusing on whatever look-at-the-monkey horseshite Foxnews is telling you to focus on. Instead, focus on the truth.

FYI, that last sentence was tongue-in-cheek. I know many of you have no interest in the truth or facts. You're too emotionally invested in hating and fearing what the Republican party through Foxnews has told you to fear and hate. But those boogeyman aren't real. But what is real is how the quality of life in the US is declining year over year compared to the rest of the civilized world, the average American is full of hate at his fellow man AND has less money in his pocket, and the US's chief export is war.

Stop letting Foxnews stir you up with lies, and stop letting Russia win the Cold War on the internet. It's time to think differently, and it starts with dropping the fear-mongering and hate-mongering. Concepts like healthcare for the populace should not be considered bad ideas. It should be considered the bare minimum of human decency and civilized society in the modern age. The ones convincing you it's bad are the ones who'll lose money due to you saving it. Wake up, everyone.

Look, I like you Prevatt, I’m one of the few, but if you think that I’m going to be lectured by an English teacher/furniture builder in a third world country, who never wants to live in the United States again, then you’re wrong. You’re in a third world country trying to tell Americans what they are doing wrong. I don’t think you’re stupid, but don’t condemn Americans who are smart enough to stay out of third world problems

Can we get back on topic? No one will convince the “other side” to change ways, even in these trying times.
So, at the very least, start another thread with your (not just you) personal opinions and carry on from there.
This is the one thread on this entire site we can learn more state of Alabama information.
TIA

I'm no Pelosi fan or anything, but none of this is acurate.

What is not accurate?

She created a 1400+ page bill she wanted to introduce that had numerous things in it that were not related to the current bill in Congress and here is the link to the bill in its full.

LINK

You can also look up on just about every site that the Dems have stated once this phase three stimulus bill is passed a 4th and 5th will be soon behind.

If you are referencing my opinion I am an independent so support neither side but they are using this politically.

quote:

Pelosi said on Tuesday's conference call she outlined a number of Democratic victories in the ongoing Senate negotiations

Why can't it just be a victory for the people in this country.

quote:

President Trump's approval rating has hit an all-time high after it went up 5 percentage points within a month after a majority of the public said it approved of how he has handled the coronavirus outbreak.

Not sure what is inaccurate. If you honestly do not think both parties are trying to leverage this for the upcoming elections you are very naive.

And FTR I do not listen to FOX, CNN, or the majority of the on air news since they do not report the news only create items for entertainment.

BREAKING: Democrat Sheriff Baker of the Wake County, NC Sheriff's Department just suspended pistol permits and concealed carry permits.

This is in violation of North Carolina State Law and is unconstitutional.

We must take a stand against this.

Ryan Fournier Twitter. Here we go folks

A little misleading but true as well. The sheriff does not want people coming in the office due to the virus. Wake has the most cases currently in the state so I can understand that. Two NC senators said he has violated the law which technically he has.

Also it has been announced in several counties including where I am at that the police will not come out now to residents or business for a crime unless it is violent. So if ou wake up in the morning and find someone broke into your car oh well.

quote:

Wake County Sheriff Gerald Baker said no pistol purchase or concealed carry permits can be requested through the end of April to try to keep the new coronavirus out of the sheriff's office. The hiatus will give deputies a chance to catch up on the backlog of pending permits, he said.

Nearly 300 people a day have applied for permits so far this year, more than triple the number last year, officials said.

The Wake County Sheriff's Office already is quarantining in individual cells new people booked into the detention center and has, with permission of state courts, halted serving civil papers and carrying out evictions to limit the spread of the virus.

What is really interesting is Wake County is one of the most liberal and anti-gun counties in the state. That tells even more.

Any update on the tornado? Not sure how to deal with a major storm and having to shelter people in one location.

So they woke up one morning and realized that where the rubber meets the road, they really are personally responsible for their own safety?

That must have been a sobering moment.

Seriously, after reading the story I feel for the sheriff. He probably has a couple of administrative assistants trained to do this and now they can't see their desks because of the stacks of apps.

No matter where you are I've found legal gun ownership usually goes some people have a gun or 2 for hunting, some people have a gun or 2 for protection and 5 dudes have ALL THE OTHER GUNS in the area. . I am friends with a couple of those guys. I'm like what you need 8 .30-06s for Rambo. I said that jokingly to one friend of mine and he half jokingly said back, "You know, for parties." I laughed my arse off.

Great Smokies National Park is now closed due to the lack of social distancing.

We can never have nice things.

Pretty much my experience, but I'll add one other small group. People that have inherited their daddy's and/or granddaddy's guns and never use them.

My father in law spans all 4 of those groups. Probably has at least 40 guns. Some for hunting, some were his dad's he inherited, some are for protection, and some are just interesting guns he enjoys collecting and shooting on occasion.

We were originally going to camp on the Outerbanks for a week or so but the county there is on lock down. Was looking at another park in the mountains but all state parks closed for camping. Was then going to go to Cosby in the Smokies(largest campground but very few visitors. Now it is closed. My kids have been camping in the woods here on the ridge for the last 4 nights at least.

We have some friends that are talking about heading down to the Bahamas in their boat for 2 weeks so we may tag alone. They know small uninhabited island to kick back on.

Liberty University, a Christian school in Virginia, is reopening despite health officials' warnings. The dorms and dining halls are reopening, and students from across the county and world are returning to campus. Most classes have been moved online, and the university's president said the school is taking the proper precautions. "We've become an apartment complex, that's all we are," said President Jerry Falwell, Jr. "We're not operating as a school."

I can not believe the VA Gov is allowing this. The school has almost 80000 enrolled including around 2% international with the largest coming from China and S Korea.

So, uh, this is an interesting abuse of power:

Nevada Governor Bans Use of Malaria Drugs to Treat Coronavirus

quote:

Nevada’s governor on Tuesday banned the use of anti-malaria drugs chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine to treat coronavirus patients.

Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak’s executive order came after President Trump touted the medication as holding promise for combating the illness.

Sisolak said there was no consensus among experts or Nevada doctors that the drugs can treat people with COVID-19.

Local news article:

Sisolak signs restriction order for 2 drugs

quote:

The governor’s order prohibits the prescribing and dispensing chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine for a COVID-19 diagnosis, requires the appropriate prescription coding for their “legitimate medical purposes,” and limits prescriptions to a 30-day supply.

“At this point in time, there is no known cure for COVID-19 and we must not withhold these drugs from those who need them,” the governor said in a statement. “The best way to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is to stay home for Nevada, not to stockpile these drugs.”
