Didn't see this posted from earlier today

ELMORE COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA) - An Elmore County Public Schools teacher tested positive for coronavirus, Superintendent Richard Dennis confirmed in a letter to schools Thursday.

The teacher informed the school district Wednesday that she had a confirmed case of COVID-19.

The superintendent said they don’t know when the teacher contracted the virus, but the Alabama Department of Public Health advised the school district to contact everyone who may have been in contact with the teacher in the last two weeks.

“Therefore, out of our responsibility to students and employees, we are sending this notification to inform you that students attending Wetumpka Elementary, Wetumpka Middle, Wetumpka High, Redland, Eclectic Elementary and Elmore County High Schools may have been exposed to COVID-19 through contact with this teacher,” Dennis’ letter said.

The CDC botched its early development of coronavirus test kits, according to a government email obtained by The Wall Street Journal.

Those tests could not differentiate between the novel coronavirus and lab-grade water.

The delay in coronavirus testing has forced federal, state, and local governments to accelerate their response and contain the virus without up-to-date data of how far it's spread.

I have to wonder if AL only having three new cases in this morning’s update is due to it taking longer and longer to get test results back. The Assurance Scientific Labs tests now take 3-5 days to get results back. Originally it was supposed to be 4 hours.

Florida up to 520. Reported the second most cases behind NY with 103 yesterday. Poor NY with 1700 yesterday.

Florida, the Northeast, and California are going to be hammered between all of their urban centers and global tourism.

Does stand to reason that more densely packed areas would be hit hard. Trump made a point today at the press briefing that folks in the Midwest don't seem to be as affected.

As per my earlier post the CA Governor expects that over 25 million in the state will contract the coronavirus.

Damn I wish some of y'all would lay off us beach folks! You can be safe at the beach with common sense! It's real easy to say close them when it's not your arse on a business that needs it. Stay safe Comrades!

Spring Breakers + Beach = no common sense. Sorry dude. Wouldn't you rather have a weak Spring Break and get back to business as usual during the summer months than have to shut down for most of the summer? Because I'm afraid that's the choice we're staring at.

Another reason why we should be testing only those who show symptoms, since testing negative today doesn't mean you won't catch it tomorrow. We should be saving those tests for when they are needed, not having a mad rush to the mobile site just because "you have to know now."

NC is slowly shutting down the beaches. The state park near me is still open which is great for the trails and all those with boats wanting to get out on the lake. The ranger said they will keep it open if people practice social distancing but today one of the small beaches on the lake had well over 150 people on it. Lake beaches are not that big. Idiots as they are going to get everything shutdown.

Start giving out tickets with 4 figure fines on them and people may start to listen.

Being announced now in NC(at least on several outlets) that schools here will not reopen until the fall.

Florida is slowly shutting down too. Desantis, the governor, made the mistake of leaving it up to the local areas. Even so, over 70% of the biggest beach areas are closed. Panama City Beach finally just voted to closed down tonight at 7pm. And Desantis just issued an executive order that all restaurants are closed to dine in. Carry out only. So maybe everyone will stay at home now and stop importing the virus.

I believe he clarified that that was in the event that no measures were taken and everyone just went about their lives as if it were business as usual.

Sounds like Florida has a wuss for a governor.

And, my husband and I just got a letter from our health insurance company that the coronavirus test will be fully covered if our doctor says we need one.

Pretty happy to have it in writing if I ever need it.
