There are more deaths being reported in Italy than China according to John Hopkins charts LINK

Of course, I don't believe half of what comes out of China.

I don't believe China any time their lips are moving. Having said that, the median age in Italy is over 47. It's 37 (allegedly) in China.

Probably more importantly, 22% of Italy's population is over 65. That number is a 11.25% in China (it is 16% in the US).

Italy's also predominately urban, with a population density similar to Jefferson County, Alabama.

In effect, Italy is one big nursing home when it comes to how this virus performs. That's not a good mix.

Not sure where else but all the local McDonalds in my area are providing free breakfast and lunches to all school age kids. Trying to help those that rely on free meals at school while they are out.

Reminder in case anyone missed it...

During the Coronavirus Task Force press briefing yesterday (Wednesday), Dr. Deborah Birx stated:

quote:

It’s now in a high-speed platform.

So we will see the number of people diagnosed dramatically increase over the next four to five days. I know some of you will use that to raise an alarm that we are worse than Italy because of our slope of our curve.

To every American out there, it will be five to six days’ worth of tests being run in 24 to 48 hours. So our curves will not be stable until sometime next week.

What needs to get done especially with places like the beach where everyone is throwing caution to the wind.

In Raleigh over the weekend at the PNC Arena the place was packed out for the The Millennium Tour 2020 now has a confirmed case. So who knows who all was in contact with him during the show.

All of those people at the beach throwing caution to the wind, intermingling, then dispersing in a few days and returning back to their communities.

And short-sighted civic leaders worried about local businesses more than the public health. Bay County and particularly Panama City Beach, refuse to close the beaches. Meanwhile, Florida is up to 390 cases. I feel for the business owners and sympathize with them but would you rather be closed for 30 days or 30 days then 30 more, then 30 more? Because that's what will happen if we don't stop the spread.

I think we are probably past the point of getting to resume business as usual in 30 days. Probably closer to 90-120. Maybe more. People are being irresponsible shitheads and the government response at both the state and federal levels has been fricking awful.
