I tore my ACL and it took a full year before it quit hurting when i would cut. I was 17 when i tore mine in the first game of my senior year as a running back. Now i will say that i had to have a transplant as it was separated from both ends where it attached. That was in 06.

Hopefully it's not an ACL, but if it is it seems as though now that everyone recovers at a different pace. Some take 7 months, some 18 months and some are never the same. Getting impossible to predict. I would think it would help him that he's a lighter guy but hurt him that as a CB all he pretty much does is make unexpected reactive quick cuts.

"Blake has had a really good spring and has taken some command," Saban said after the closed scrimmage Saturday. "Cooper Bateman has made a lot of improvement and done a great job. Alec (Morris) is still competing. So those three guys have sort of emerged as the three guys that look like they're the most ready to play. Nobody is disappointed in anybody else."

But Saban touched on Cornwell's progress coming off an ACL injury last fall.

"We actually feel like our freshman, who's coming off an injury, has a lot of potential," Saban said. "He's just not 100 percent healthy yet. So we're pleased with the progress those guys have made."

"I thought that for the first scrimmage, I was really pleased with the effort and intensity that the players had. I really like the attitude of this team, in terms of how they go about what they try to do, how they work and the effort that they give, the mental and physical toughness they play with," Saban said. "A lot of guys come out and be conscientious to do a good job, and I think it shows in the way we play and the way we compete."

quote:

"The togetherness on the team is, to me, a lot better," he said Saturday. "I said back in the beginning that we’re starting over in terms of starting a new program and going back to reemphasize the basic fundamental things that we thought made the program successful to start with.

"Everybody has to buy into that, and I like the way the players have responded. I like the leadership we have so far on this team."

In the days leading up to Saturday's scrimmage, multiple Alabama players expressed similar sentiments. The "togetherness" Saban mentioned Saturday had been a common talking point from them in recent weeks.

"I think we're more together as a team," senior safety Nick Perry said. "I think we have a better understanding of our goal unlike last year. I think you learn more from losses than you do from wins.

"Sometimes you need to lose to learn. We definitely learned our lesson last year."

Like hearing this.

O/U on how many QB's end up petitioning for a "diapers as part of the uniform" rule?

If they end up reverting to '08/'09 form, it's going to be scary.

'11 was the epitome of talent meets motivation. Truly the best team I've ever seen

Darius Paige continues to be visible at Alabama's practices. The former Alabama signee who was medically disqualified less than a month after enrolling has been eagerly watching the defensive line drills. Anybody know anything about this?

A 5-star WR recruit said that #Bama QB Blake Sims (@_bsims6) was 'putting it on the money' in Saturday's scrimmage

I think the Sims/Coker battle will be great. I can see a situation like 2011 where two QB's split series the first couple of games until one emerges.

Any inside info on EJ? Seems wild he would be back by fall...partial tear maybe?

There are other ligaments in the knee other than the ACL

I know that a MCL heals easier than an ACL (I've had both).

"We're making steady improvement. We have three starters back that are all very capable guys,' Saban said. "Leon Brown has played in the bowl game and we have a lot of confidence in him and I think he's probably a guy that'll be in the best five guys."

What position could he be talking about? From where I'm sitting, we're fricking stacked with talent. It's quality experience that we lack.
