-- RB Alvin Kamara (knee) won't be playing in today's scrimmage, but he's in for a long day. He was walking the Bryant-Denny Stadium stairs with a trainer.

-- LaMichael Fanning will be playing as a defensive end in this scrimmage. He was a tight end in last week's. He moved back to his old position Friday.

-- CB Deion Belue doesn't look to be 100 percent, but he was warming up with his position group. It will be interesting to hear how much he plays.

-- On the defensive line, Dakota Ball (appendectomy) and Wilson Love (undisclosed) remain absent.

-- New tight end Brandon Greene has a new number. He's swapped No. 58 for No. 89, the number previously worn by tight end Michael Williams.

-- Freshman WR ArDarius Stewart was catching passes out of the slot along with Christion Jones and Chris Black. We've seen Stewart occasionally line up with the Y receivers.

-- WR Amari Cooper won't be catching four passes for 182 yards and three touchdowns in today's scrimmage. He was in a black jersey and pedaling on a stationary bicycle.

-- As anticipated, LB Trey DePriest (suspension) wasn't anywhere to be seen. He was suspended Tuesday and Nick Saban said it could be "as short as a week."

Looks like the Greene to TE move might be more than an experiment. It'll be interesting seeing a 300+ lb TE running a route if he's asked to do that

I really hope our crowd knows what we have with a guy that has a nickname like Nudie. I really believe he will be a force either way though.

It was funny reading all the "know everything Bama fans" freak out about fanning not being a defensive lineman. Remember when saban pretended there was a qb competition between AJ and Phil simms. He is master of confusing fans and other teams.

And vogler is gonna be a beast, we will be more then ok at TE. (Not saying fanning won't hop out at tightend and block 5 or 6 times this year.)

One could say he would be...quite "Greene" at it.

So you think the Fanning to TE experiment was to confuse fans and other teams? CNS must be a real prankster to waste half of a player's fall camp just to frick with people

I didn't say his only goal was to frick with people. Like I said, fanning will see a few snaps in goal line formations. But to pretend like he won't be a big part of our DL is unimaginable. And you can't play both positions a lot. So the bottom line is the guy is a Defensive lineman. Not a "tightend", like several people in here thought that to be the case. Was you one of them?

I said that I liked him at DE not TE.

Were you making these types of statements anytime over the last week or only after he moved back to DL?

Should I have patented my theory that saban was merely putting fanning at TE for a mere moment for a few goal line formations before I called a few retards out for it.

Did not think it was needed. At all. But next time ill be sure to call someone out immediately rather than later for some dumb shite.

I was rooting for Fanning at TE, simply because I want to see him pan out in some way.

He hasn't done much of anything so far at DE, so maybe it was the position that needed a change to kick start something.

The 20 lbs still baffles me, no idea why he'd drop it after looking great with it. It could solve his quickness problem off the snap, but what of his inability to help set the edge at end?

Anyone who body slams someone has DE DNA in their blood. With all the HUNH offensives that give us our only trouble, prolly figures its better to be extremely in shape, rather then big. He is still about 270, you can be a great DE at 270.

This. I thought if he had an issue it was holding up in the run game.

Maybe we go 5 linebackers and 2 lineman? Would be sick to see 5 DE/Linebacker standing up and stinson and pagan up the middle. Against running teams of course.

Cld be a doghouse issue or a message to drake. He is the superior talent, so it isn't bc Hart is "better".

Now a little worried about the OL:

quote:

Saban: Wasn't pleased with the offensive line today. Not a lot of movement. Too many soft pockets. Mental errors.

Soo funny to see people say Fanning hasnt done anything on DL soo far but what has Pagan done? What has Ashawn Robinson done and people love them. Who knows why Saban switched him honestly.

If the reports of Sims throwing 3 picks are true and Del Rio is getting the 3rd string snaps its hard to be very excited about the future at QB right now.

Lets hope this is just Saban trying to get the team's attention as we enter prep for Va Tech.
