And there's no reason for that Rise, you are Bama and should recruit the state and get the best talent you can and the state is deceptively good Bball talent

No reason for Wichita State to have any better player

The other teams top 3 players were on the bench for the last 5 minuets of the first half and Bama couldn't take the lead.
This will never get any better as long as AG is in charge.

Marshall is regarded as a very good coach. I think he'd be a huge upgrade.

There is no doubt in my mind that he would be.

I know they were in the final 4 last year...but it took him 5 years at WSU to even make a tournament, and he's gotten them there twice since 2008. I feel like if we were going to can Grant we would need to make a bigger upgrade than that.

why wait for a 'sure thing', esp since there is no 'sure thing' with bama basketball ... calapari and pitino aren't coming here ... we have to try and get lucky ... we know what we have with grant ... i was on the bandwagon just as much as anyone else, but he cannot coach up his players offensively ... it's that simple ... you say marshall has gotten wsu to the tournament only twice since 2008 ... those two times were the last two years ... they've gotten better every single year ... they won the NIT, which means they were a bubble team for the tournament ... then lost in the 2nd round, then beat a #1, #7, and #20 team to get to the final four last year ... the guy can coach ... why not try him out for 3 years? ... if it doesn't work, try again ...

staying in place is not going to get it done ...

I just think that if you can shoot the ball coaching can't frick that up. It's like being fast. Poor coaching isn't going to slow you down, good coaching can improve it but you're not going to be hindered at something you're naturally good at. The 3 coming in can fill it up from all over the court.

Grant was regarded as a great hire when he came in. No doubt the guy at Wichita can coach, but for one I doubt he leaves there for bama and secondly I don't think he's as much of an upgrade at this point in time to risk the class coming in.

Grants problem in my opinion is a poor supporting coaching staff. There's not an offensive mind on the bench.

I'm amazed anyone can still defend him. I actually let my wife convince me to watch something else during the game because I was that sure we were going to screw it up somehow.

On a side note, I think we're going to catch some uab games this season...

Is there a site that shows all the D1 coaches and their salaries? I can only find stuff that has it for the coaches that make the NCAA tournament. I'd like to actually know what Grant's salary ranks among the public schools.

You see me posting on him last page Bearden? I'm REALLY frickING IMPRESSED I just hate that he won't be at UAB longer than a couple years (have no problem with switching to Bama though )

He could turn Alabama into the powerhouse of the SEC West no doubt in my mind

He got UNC TO VISIT frickING BIRMINGHAM!! And then beat out SEC and great basketball schools (Wich St) for William Lee, state's top player

And whose fault is it that this far into his tenure this is still an issue? Good coaches make adjustments to fit their roster

Wasn't this said about Trevor Lacey?

Or you just hire a good coach and some of the recruits will stick around. It happens a good bit in basketball actually.

Again whose fault is this? Grant is the one who decides is and isn't on his staff.

I think Alabama basketball needs someone like Bruce Pearl. Someone that isn't so damn boring all of the time. This program needs some sort of excitement if it ever wants to get out of the shadow of the football program.

He was really excited about coming to UAB when they hired him. Called it a "destination" basketball job. I'm not saying he couldn't be pulled away from the program but he acts like he's in it for more than just a couple years.

I hope that too for sure and Bartow certainly not only proved it is a school that can be extremely successful, but I think part of that was his excitement that a school offered him a HC job. That being said I will always err on the side of caution when thinking that UAB will back any part of their athletic program enough to have elite success and basketball is certainly the easiest as evidenced by the parody of the dance and smaller schools etc, still would help to have some damn support

Which game are y'all gonna try to get to?

If he keeps losing to Drexel...I'd say pretty high.
