I'm truly scared that we will start losing on in state recruits the longer he fricking stays here.

Grant has had time to bring the program up to respectability. He hasn't. If he doesn't get them into the NCAA tourney then it is time to pull the plug on him. Too much talent in the state and surrounding states for him not to do better.

like this doesnt happen every year? Most of the best talent in Alabama usually goes to schools not named Alabama or Auburn.

Bruce Pearl loses the "show cause" this season, right?

You don't follow basketball recruiting much, do you?
There's plenty of reasonable complaints about Grant out there. No need to make shite up.

If this is sarcasm, well played. If this is serious see my above post.

Wut?
Aside from Cousins and Bledsoe, who he barely had an opportunity to recruit, Grant has landed pretty much every player from Alabama who was worth a damn. There just hasn't been that much talent in the last 4 classes.
He's terrible at Xs and Os, sucks as a motivator, and sucks at player development. In state recruiting is probably the last thing I would ever put on a list of things to criticize Grant for.

I support this thread in full. Grant has been very consistent at one thing though....that's fielding some of the worst Alabama teams I've ever seen.

I don't know what it is but his offense is just so predictable.
I appreciate what he has done but we can do much better than him...but I don't think the our athletic department feels the same it will probably take some .500 seasons to even consider getting rid of him.

MG fielded better teams and dare I say recruited better?

MG was a product of an over-abundance of talent in the state. Nothing more. When the state's talent disappeared, so did all of the "success".
I get the complaints about Grant, but don't compare him to MG.

His teams are just horrible to watch. They are scrappy and can get the job done in an ugly fashion sometimes, but I hoped for much more by this point in his tenure. I would be happy finding a new coach that doesn't ignore offense completely.

what is sad is that what looked like our best player yesterday was the JUCO Key. Our senior PG was in foul trouble and he should know better. His fourth foul was ticky tacky but it was as stupid foul. He of all people should know we need his leadership on the court. I think he picked it up with about 13 minutes left in the game.
we score 40 ish points in first period and only 23 in the second. Some team did a much better job of half time adjustments.

It's going to take all of the players some time to adjust to the new rules. Especially the guards. He has been allowed to hand check his entire career, and suddenly they are telling him he can't anymore.

They went on a 30-15 run to close the 1st half. Adjustments had nothing to do with it. We just got more Anthony Grant fool's gold at the beginning of the game where we watch our team look competent on offense because they are aggressive early in the shot clock and knock down a few outside shots. Traditional Grantball kicked in for the final 30 minutes of the game though and we scored about 45 points after scoring 30 in the first 10 minutes.

so you agree with me that AG is probably not the man to get the job done at Bama. MM knew early that MS was not the man and cut his losses. Does the new AD do the same thing is the million dollar question

I'm not sure anyone who keeps up with the basketball program thinks Grant is anything more than our version of Andy Kennedy. He's going to win a lot of games but almost never make the NCAAs because his teams are poorly coached/motivated, play to the level of their competition, and lose to 3 or 4 horrible opponents every season. The main difference is that Grant schedules a pretty rough OOC slate. The problem is that we never win any of those games.
The bottom line is that he's going to get at least another year though. They will give him a chance to coach Kessens, Tarrant, and the incoming freshmen. If you fire him this offseason, you lose that recruiting class, and one or both of Hale and Taylor probably split. Combine that with Levi, Cooper, Jacobs, and Key all being seniors next season and we'd be looking at a couple of flat out abysmal seasons similar to what State is going through post-Stansbury.

i agree with that but we are a senior and junior dominated team this year with the new kids coming off the bench and adding minutes. Player development seems to be a weakness and the big Swede is an example. I realize he was injured last year but he is not significantly better this year then when he started. I will admit he is somewhat better. The only rebound he gets is one that comes to his hands. He does not fight and try to position himself to work and fight for the rebounds. I can't really tell that number 15 is much better but has lost a lot of weight. I think MG had the same problem and that is why Gerald Wallace did not stay past one year
