Wow, Bama has DB leaving left and right. Pruitt pissing people off.

I'm going to wait and see what the deal really is. It is so easy to jump to conclusion especially when you have kids that will quit at the drop of a dime, but I will give him benefit of doubt.

@Marq_Burnett:
Players tweeting that Jamey Mosley (@IAm_JameFlame) was put on scholarship. He's a guy who's worked hard. Even played some scout team QB
Good for him. CJ's lil' bro

Good, we should reward guys that want to work. You never hear anything negative about him. Hopefully, he can contribute on special teams, and then continue to work his way onto the field on Defense.

That's awesome.
Wish he had his brother's frame to go with his work ethic. He was so wiry out of high school, just now getting that weight on.
I wouldn't be surprised to see him contribute by the end of his collegiate career in some way...

My buddy (walk on WR) says the wide outs have their man picked out, but the OL have theirs. WR's want Barnett and the OL want Bateman. A lot of players feel like Hurts is too quiet and doesn't say anything. Just the impression he gets by player-coach interaction, but Saban likes Bateman and Kiffin likes Barnett. No one on the team openly picks a player they want to be QB and vocalizes it. Apparently someone got chewed the year AJ McCarron and Phillip Sims battled. Everyone wanted Sims, but McCarron was flawless but just arrogant. This competition will come down to who moves the ball the most consistent on every drive. They're not looking for big arm, big play, or seniority. Hurts isn't likely to start or play significant snaps right now because of his run first instincts. Bateman unfortunately is ahead of Hurts. It's a tie between Barnett and Bateman basically at this point. Bateman having the only collegiate experience.
I am somewhat pleased and also not pleased. I wasn't really expecting this. Anyways, this isn't concrete info, just the vibe around the team. Also, don't expect the 2nd scrimmage to be a final determiner. What matters most is who comes out every single day and changes their play the least out of the 2. There aren't very many mistakes being made, so as weird as it sounds. Bateman and Barnett are seemingly both ready. It's just who gives them the best chance to win and move the ball aggressively every series with no turn overs. Barnett hasn't turned the ball over, so I'm optimistic.

Also from my understanding, a good point brought up was it wouldn't make sense for a RS freshman who had gotten more than half the reps at 1st team corner to just give up randomly when he had taken most of the 1st team reps in the Saturday scrimmage.

I'm hearing he is going JUCO and then transferring to another SEC school. Just word on the street. Staff is quiet about it. He didn't take the most 1st team reps. AA started at DB then he and others came in on 1st team.

Bateman had two picks and Barnett a really nasty one. He has had that one for sure. Hurts with one as well.

Pruitt must be throwing the book at them with the coverage schemes

Well it's different scenarios for instance. Bateman had a pick in regular play and in goal line. Goal line usually goes one of two ways. You get two plays to score or you get one "4th" down play. Hurts was from from a goal line with the 1's and Barnett a drive with the 2's.

I don't see how Bateman can be considered "the guy" if he's throwing picks in practice and balls at the feet of receivers.

I have been told by a better source he is going to JUCO.
