Ah

I tend to agree with you, I'm not a big nickname person other than just messing around on a message board.

Alabama’s players and coaches returned to the practice field following its Fan Day and open practice for the team’s fifth practice of fall camp. The Crimson Tide practiced in full pads for the first time on a cloudy, 84-degree afternoon.

Here are several tidbits from the Crimson Tide’s Monday practice session in Tuscaloosa:

- Redshirt sophomore quarterback David Cornwell (foot) was limited once again. Cornwell did not do much during the two media viewing periods Monday, outside of throwing to the tight ends. With Cornwell off to the side during some drills, the quarterback order was Cooper Bateman, Blake Barnett, Jalen Hurts and walk-on Montana Murphy (6-foot-3, 201 pounds).

- Freshman wide receiver Trevon Diggs worked exclusively with the safeties Monday, wearing a crimson No. 7 jersey. During yesterday’s open practice Diggs practiced with both the wide receivers and defensive backs.

- During individual drills, Reuben Foster and Shaun Hamilton led the inside linebacker group. Rashaan Evans and Keith Holcombe were behind them, followed by Joshua McMillon and Keaton Anderson. Evans worked alongside Foster during yesterday’s entire open practice, while Hamilton was with Holcombe with what appeared to be the second-team defense.

- For a fourth straight practice, the same five players made up what appears to be the first-team offensive line. From left to right: Cam Robinson, Lester Cotton, Ross Pierschbacher, Bradley Bozeman and Jonah Williams.

- Walk-on running back Derrick Gore was not on the practice field Monday. Yesterday, head coach Nick Saban said Gore sprained his knee in a previous practice and will probably be out for at least two weeks.

“We’ll probably replace him in the 105 because I don't think he’ll be able to compete until school starts,” Saban said.

- Four scouts from the New York Jets watched Monday’s full-pad practice from the sideline. They were joined by one NFL scout from the Atlanta Falcons and the Minnesota Vikings each.

Seems like the line is settled. I'm completely comfortable with this.

I'm just hoping for an injury-free fall camp. The talent is there, just need to be healthy to start the season.

Yeah i can live with that.
But Im also hoping Shank get into shape and we find a backup (swing player) at both tackle positions.

Because it's a long year for a rookie RT thru the SEC,
Especially if he got to shift to LT if Cam goes down.

I would think lester and williams can be moved.
but I would like to hear about somebody else at tackle looking good as a back up.

Did Taylor ever get his weight down? He beat out Bozeman for the RG position last year, I wonder if this means he didn't get his weight down or if he will be suspended for the USC game.

Absolutely. Gonna need Shank at some point. Could even use him as a FB in GL packages.

Kirven had been developed as a swing player but i dont think he's got the potential that some others have. Although, he probably has the most time in the system. Cotton can move to tackle and Womack is being trained at both tackle spots. Both guys probably have a higher ceiling. Bozeman and Ross could move to tackle in a pinch too. Lots of guys that can fill in at the interior spots.

Couple QB thoughts:

-I've been hoping since before spring camp that Bateman would win the job in a convincing manner

-I think Hurts is the best of the bunch with Barnett right there

-You should never really worry about future seasons this year, but damn, Hurts starting this year worries me. Cornwell (he's going to transfer anyway) and Barnett transfer, Tua decommits, and we only have Hurts in 2017.

(Yes, I know those last two points seem somewhat contradictory.)

Well that's not going well for you

2nd best to Barnett. Barnett has better size and arm

Hurts won't start. Doesn't know the system well enough. Not enough time for an 18 year old to learn it.

Yeah for sure. Wanted Bateman to be the best because he's an upperclassmen. Didn't think he'd actually be the best though.

And agree to disagree on Bateman v Hurts. I don't think it's a huge difference though.

Whether Hurts can learn the system, I don't know. With his acumen and early enrollee status, I wouldn't be surprised if he had a good enough grasp. We'll see.

How about the 6-9, 250 Lb former baseball player finishing out the TE line?

Former Padres prospect Cam Stewart...

@Marq_Burnett:
Alabama LB Reuben Foster said he's playing at 225 pounds. Said he's more explosive and isn't having any knee/back problems.

He was born in '94, so he's of drinking age

There's a lot of talk about his athleticism throught stuff I've seen, baseball just didn't work out.

#83 Saint, there's small glimpses on him on practice videos...
