Saban dropped a bomb on this fricking thread, I love it! I told all you mother frickers 3 weeks ago not to listen to the bullshite posted on social media, and you all downvoted me to hell.

Well, what now? I will support whoever takes the field and will cheer for them, not tear them down. The rest of you psychos need to take a look in the mirror.

Saban isn't always right. Was he roght last year when he started Bateman against Ole Miss?

Didn't that cost us?

Did it?

You know how Coker would have played if he'd started?

Do you happen to remember what the score was when Cooper Bateman took his last snap of that game? Maybe you do, but for those whose memory has failed them and they've drank the whole gallon of "Saban lost the game by starting Bateman" Kool-Aid, I'll help.

When Cooper Bateman left the field for the last time in the game, the score was 3-3. Even if you give him the TD OM scored off the interception, the most you can put on him is a 10-3 score.

Here's a big news flash. Bateman didn't lose that game. He didn't fumble two kickoffs or allow a helmet bounce to go for a TD. You may have also missed that, while Bateman threw one interception, Coker threw two - the first of which also set up an OM score and was every bit as bad as the one thrown by Bateman.

There's simply no rational basis for this Bateman hate. He hasn't done one single thing to deserve any of it.

You're doing that right now in this very thread.

You've written off the season and suggesting Hurts transfer and we haven't even played a down.

From Casagrande's practice report today:

- Bateman and Hurts delivered a few good deep balls in drills without the defense.

Alabama was back on the practice field Monday afternoon for its first practice of USC week after a one-day break. The Crimson Tide players practiced indoors and in full pads on a mostly-sunny, 95-degree afternoon.

Here are several tidbits from the media viewing portion of Alabama's Monday practice session in Tuscaloosa:

- Inside linebacker Joshua McMillon was back on the field after missing the last two practices to deal with a personal matter. The redshirt freshman linebacker was wearing a No. 35 scout-team jersey for USC’s Cameron Smith.

- The quarterback line, when they threw with the wideouts, was Cooper Bateman, Blake Barnett, Jalen Hurts and David Cornwell. The quarterbacks were rolling out and hitting the receivers on comeback routes with some pop.

- I saw Bateman throw a nice corner route to Calvin Ridley toward the end of the two viewing periods.

- Linebackers Rashaan Evans and Keith Holcombe (ankle) were both participating in individual drills. The pair of defenders had both appeared to be limited in previous practices but were moving around well Monday.

- The first-team offensive line remained the same as the last couple of practices with, from left to right, Cam Robinson, Lester Cotton, Bradley Bozeman, Ross Pierschbacher and true freshman Jonah Williams.

- Bo Scarbrough led the running backs through drills, followed by Damien Harris, Derrick Gore, Ronnie Clark, B.J. Emmons and Joshua Jacobs. Nick Saban said Scarbrough and Harris will be the top-two backs in the opener.

- A few number changes: Emmons from 6 to 21, Gehrig Dieter from 14 to 11 and Xavian Marks from 31 to 19.

- An NFL scout from New York Giants watched Monday’s indoor practice from the sideline.

*** What’s next: Alabama will return to practice Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. CT after player interviews.

It's amazing how all of a sudden the beat reporters are noticing nice throws from Bateman

So I had a conversation with one of my relatives who went to the scrimmage. He is in his sixties and a former Football coach. He doesn't do social media at all, when I told him what Saban said he laughed in my face. I told him I was serious and he said I have no idea how Barnett is in this discussion. Glad I didn't dream it.

"Jalen Hurts had tremendous ability," Saban said. "We are not giving up on that ability and hopefully we'll be able to develop it so that at some point and time this season, he's going to be a productive player for us."

that is an interesting quote, IMO. But it might no be that interesting. I don't know.

Where did I write off the team? Show me.

All I said was Saban isn't always right. He has made mistakes in the past, specifically with QB selection in the only game we lost last year and he heavily favors seniority.

Anyone else notice when 247 put their depth chart article up, they had "Christian Miller/Jamey Wilson" as 2nd team SAM?

At first I was like "Who the frick is that?", then realized they meant Jamey Mosley.

Glad to see him hanging in there with some big names...

I know we've been over this but you have to admit it's a little ironic that you keep claiming CNS places too much weight on seniority at QB but the only example you can cite where he picked the wrong starter was when he started a Soph QB over a Senior

why do they need to tell us the outside temp when they practice indoors. Duh. they will be indoors all week is my guess since we play in a damn dome.

That's the kind of bullshite Saban says when he's trying to placate a player who probably feels a little let down that he's outplayed the competition and didn't win the job.

I'll support whoever Saban trots out there but I've seen this movie before. I know how it ends. I hope I'm wrong, God. I hope I'm wrong. And I won't be on here saying I told you so. Coach Bryant tried the same thing in his last years, starting the senior who bided his time as the perennial backup because he wasn't the most talented guy. The more talented freshman was on the sidelines as #1 Alabama took a 28 game long winning streak into Starkville and left a 6-3 loser as the senior QB fumbled away the snap on 4th and goal late in the game. They stumbled again later that season and finished 10-2 despite a rock solid defense and talent everywhere except at the trigger. Yes, we've started the senior guy the last two years and yes it has worked. It won't always work every time. And it made sense the last two years. Not much separation between the guys. This year, from what we read, there is. If Bateman is successful, I'll shut up. But I'm afraid we just gave SC a huge boost in this game and a chance to win.

USC has a chance to win regardless of who we start. They have a first year starter at QB themselves. Our D is heads and shoulders better then theirs. their QB will be running for his life. If he is not a dual threat guy I doubt he has a lot of time to sit in the pocket and look for an open receiver.
