Yep agree. And, there are pros and cons. Those RPO pass plays were pretty explosive for us. The run game off of them was pretty explosive.
However, I'm guessing we want to keep that in the arsenal but be more based around power runs and play action with a sprinkle of RPO, not be an offense based around RPO.
Who knows - we'll see.

Would you want Stoutland back?
I mean I dont really know anything about OL play outside of reading who experts think are good at it. He seems to be really good.
His recruiting was miserable though wasn't it? Like so bad we had a stretch of some pretty ugly OL depth charts.

LINK ]Ex-Rutgers head coach (Kyle Flood) in the mix for job at Alabama (al.com)
quote:
A former head coach has emerged as a candidate for one of Alabama’s position coach openings.
Ex-Rutgers head coach Kyle Flood is in the mix for the Crimson Tide’s offensive line coach job and interviewed in Tuscaloosa on Monday, sources told AL.com.
The 47-year old Flood, who went 27-24 in four seasons as Rutgers' head coach from 2012 to 2015, has been with the Atlanta Falcons since 2017 and spent the last two seasons working with the coach seemingly set to be hired to as the Tide’s offensive coordinator, Steve Sarkisian.
Flood transitioned to a senior assistant role with the Falcons in January after two seasons as the team’s assistant offensive line coach.

Awful recruiting... The only way to justify it is if he commits to actually going and recruiting and not just being the positional recruiter...
That is probably why flood has gotten some buzz since he at least seems to be a competent recruiter.

I disagree. We've got 25 guys signed up already. I'll sacrifice one or two in order to make sure we hire the right coaches.
At the end of the day, these new coaches aren't going to be here long enough to establish relationships with 2019 recruits. It's going to be up to Saban and the holdovers to make that happen.

"When Coach (Jim) Harbaugh called, it kind of caught me off guard because I was literally, the funny thing about it, I had just left a meeting with Nick Saban, getting my butt chewed out for 20 minutes, telling him that I was leaving, and he was trying to keep me to stay," Gattis said on Harbaugh's podcast, Attack Each Day. "It did not go over well, so if there was any band-aid to the bruise, or what he left on me, it was the phone call, and it was exciting to hear his voice and to get to talk to him personally."

Not everyone likes Saban's style and demands, that isn't a condemnation of them or Saban. I'm not sure why people on this board feel the need to defend Saban's honor every time people point out that like everyone else, coaches have a variety of preferences.

It’s not defending anyone’s honor. It is his basic tenants that have been honed since his days at Michigan State. It’s been behind 6 national titles. You don’t completely change everything because of one game so we can all be “family” and feel good about ourselves.
You continue to mold your schemes to stay relevant, yes. But overhauling your core beliefs? Are you kidding me?

Most of the posts simply say that Gattis and Enos not liking the way things work under Saban isn't that crazy, whereupon immediatly 2 or 3 posters jump out, like yourself, and make a straw man out of it. You didn't actually address anything I said, you just made up something vaguely related to what I said and got mad
There is nothing wrong with the process, it works and Saban is supposed to be a much better person to be around behind the scenes than the gruff exterior we get as fans. That doesn't change that the long hours can wear on people and it's fine that talented coaches look elsewhere for jobs where instead of 16 hour days it is only 10-12

Ahh, so an OL coach named Flood. Perfect.

Newsflash: Nick Saban is a driven, hard-working, process-oriented, attention-to-detail, continuous-improvement perfectionist who demands that his staff and players follow his lead -- to achieve excellence. Working and playing for him ain't for everybody.

Yup, it isn't for everyone and I'm sure Saban is honest with them when he offers them the job. It's not Saban's fault that those coaches decide that they don't like it. They shouldn't have taken the job.

Just pisses me off that I believe several coaches had already phoned it in by the Clemson game. That's just my opinion

Glad he's gone. Sounds like he didn't want to put in the effort to get better and be more than mediocre. So, he can go to Mediocre Michigan and be mediocre, there, where he won't get his "butt chewed out," for being mediocre. Low expectations.
And we'll find someone who wants to win.

Just looked back over the stats for Rutgers under Flood. Rush numbers were pretty bleh nationally - the best years for 2006/2007.....with Ray Rice.
3 OL drafted- 2007 5th round Cam Stephenson (G), 2008 3rd round Jeremy Zuttah (G) and 2010 1st round Anthony Davis (T)
