Roach's main area is Alabama too, don't think Saban needs help in that state

Charles Partridge won't get hired because of cocaine

What's wrong with Lance? If he was that bad he wouldn't even get an interview.

Partridge replaced Carl Pelini at FAU, who was fired for drug use.

Lance might be over the hill as a recruiter, and has never been regarded as a good positional coach.

Cap can we get a thread title change to something like Coach Saban's month of Sundays or forever and a day coaching search? I don't know why but everytime I see Coach Dunbar's name in the thread title I die a little inside.

OK tell me what he did tho. Obviously he has had to have done something for people to dislike him. You can't judge his recruiting at South Carolina like its Bama.

Some of Lance's misbehaviors (e.g., "doing" a recruit's mom) have been discussed in this thread. A forum search on Lance Thompson would get you those posts.

He has slept around while married.

You can easily when several other USCe assistants cracked the top 200.

Saban seemed pretty pissed when Thompson left the last time. I'd be shocked if he gave him another shot

How about "never ending edition"?!

The aging process has a way of bringing you down to earth. I recall the days of culling some young ladies and as the years past buy you learn that you are a cull.

Lance is looking like he was road hard and put up wet.

Jimmy Buffet...

But ah, the stories we could tell
And if it all blows up and goes to Hell
I wish that we could sit upon a bed in some motel
Listen to the stories we could tell

Thompson crossed sides of the bitter in-state rivalry on Jan. 14. Though Thompson says he is still "close" with Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin, whom he worked under while at Tennessee in 2009, defensive coordinator Kirby Smart, offensive line coach Mario Cristobal and tight ends/special teams coach Bobby Williams, he claims to have no communication with Saban in over eight months.

"Since I told him I was leaving? None," Thompson said. "Me and Nick don't have anything to talk about right now. But I don't got any hard feelings towards coach. He does a tremendous job. Looking forward to playing against him."

quote:

Saban was asked about Thompson, one of two departures from Alabama's staff this winter, during the week leading up to the Senior Bowl. "We've had several opportunities and given Lance several opportunities through the years and this same circumstance has occurred several times before and I can't really tell you why coaches do what they do," Saban said in January. "I think the best thing you can do is ask him, not me. We'll do the best we can to find the best replacement for him. The guy did a good job when he was with us and we wish him well. We've always wished him well and we'll continue to have the best program we can have for our players and get the best coaches and teachers for our players."
