Tulane assistant interviews for Alabama DL coach vacancy (BamaOnLine)
quote:

At least one coaching candidate has interviewed for Alabama’s defensive line coach vacancy, BamaOnLine has learned.

Tulane defensive line coach Kevin Peoples recently interviewed for the position, according to BOL sources. Peoples just finished his second season working with the Green Wave.

In his first season at Tulane in 2016, Peoples coached a defensive line anchored by Tanzel Smart, who earned first-team honors from the American Athletic Conference and went on to be a sixth-round pick of the Los Angeles Rams in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Prior to joining Tulane, Peoples spent two seasons at Georgia Southern. In his final season at GSU in 2015, Peoples’ D-line ranked first in the Sun Belt and 24th nationally in rushing defense (130.9 avg) and second and 24th nationally in total defense (338.1).

Peoples has also coached at UAB, Arkansas and Arkansas State -- where he spent eight years.

Another possible candidate for the vacancy is Kentucky defensive line coach Derrick LeBlanc, BOL has learned. LeBlanc was a graduate assistant at LSU under coach Nick Saban.

Alabama is in need of a D-line coach after Karl Dunbar was hired by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

So far, it appears Saban has done a great job of revamping the staff. And it looks like he wants to make sure he nails it with this hire too.

One way or another, it seems, the DL coach is going to have Louisiana ties.

On the other hand it could appear like we’re just pulling names out of a hat. At least that’s what it appears like from the media side anyway

I googled and found nothing that says anything beyond him being a contender for the WR coach position vacated by Enos. Is your post based on what the random LSU poster put on tRant, with no source or link?

No death threats yet?

I guess Michigan fans didn't hear about the "No Schiano!" shitstorm by the Vols twitter army and the "No McElwain!" ammo rhat's available.

Their offense was already so dated, Mac isn't gonna change much.

They can't beat tOSU with that "balanced" offense. They just have to hope they hit on the Shea transfer...

Alabama analyst Chris Weinke joins Pruitt's Tennessee staff (BamaOnLine)
quote:

Alabama offensive analyst Chris Weinke is expected to be the next running backs coach at Tennessee, BamaOnLine has confirmed.

GoVols247 first reported the promotion for Weinke.

Weinke joins former Crimson Tide defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt in Knoxville after spending the 2017-18 season in Tuscaloosa as an analyst under Nick Saban and Pruitt.

Tennessee moved quickly to fill the vacancy on its coaching staff created by the departure of tailbacks coach Robert Gillespie.

Weinke, a former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback at Florida State, joined the Alabama football program after one season as the quarterbacks coach of the Los Angeles Rams (2015-16). He was also the Director of Football at IMG Academy, where he coached Bo Scarbrough.

He finished his Florida State career with a 32–3 record and spent seven seasons in the NFL with the Carolina Panthers (2001-06) and San Francisco 49ers (2007).

“We’ve always had a lot of respect for Chris Weinke,” Saban said in March. “The guy was a great player. He played a long time in the league. He’s very knowledgeable. He’s very smart. He was a great high school coach at IMG.

“He went to the NFL and got a couple good years of experience in the NFL. So we thought he’d bring some knowledge and experience and certainty be helpful to us off the field and helping us with game plan.”

It might have been Huddie that thought Weinke was the next Saban

I'm not sure if we can win a game next season without him

Maybe Weinke was too slow fetching coffee and Little Debbies. "You're out Chris."
