we hear UNC is a blue blood but UConn has 6 natties like UNC does. Top coach in the NCAA whether you like him or not.

I think Todd Golden is an interesting case. He won a national title last year, but other than that he's never made it past the first weekend in the NCAA tournament. He had a really good team last year, obviously, that won the SEC tournament and a good team this year. But, again, other than the national championship season, he's not done that much. You can't just ignore that though, but I am interested to see how well Florida does over the next couple of years.
I want to see Golden after all these bigs leave. He gets the credit for recruiting them obviously, but I doubt he'll be able to keep up this level of size/athleticism/depth in the frontcourt like he has had.

Top10.
Anyone with a natty is top 10 unless they were truly a one and done.
So top ten in no order.
UF coach
Cal
Izzo
Self
Hurly
Petino
Scott Drew-only 7 and just added him. Thanks google
Who am I missing with a natty who is still coaching?
At my age I forgot what I just ate for supper. Rut ro

We've won 25+ games and 2+ tournament games 5 of his 7 seasons, including the last 4 in a row. The only coach I'd trade him for is Hurley. That kind of consistency is extremely rare.
I might not trade him for Golden due to Golden’s personality, but impossible to argue that Nate is a better coach than Golden right now.

If we are going to definitively say he's not top 3, can we please start listing your 3 current best coaches?
Fair.
And again before I start, I would not trade Nate for anybody. Nate Oats is the perfect coach for us and nobody we could realistically get in any world would be better than him. But…
Hurley
Sampson
May
Mark Few
I feel like those would be almost unanimous top 3 (and 4) amongst most people. Rest of the top 10 would be up for debate but there’s no world where Oats isn’t top 10.

You can argue for Golden, but there is absolutely an argument for Nate over Golden. Golden has made it to the 2nd weekend once and his entire success so far has been done with the same core of players. Nate has 4 consecutive Sweet 16s, including a Final 4, and 2 Elite 8s in that stretch, .
Golden has his number H2H, but the same thing can be said of Oats and Sampson. But Sampson is one of two coaches whose recent success should have him clearly ahead of Nate currently.

Also calling him being a sex pest and massive liability for his employer a "personality" is fricking rich. He's a dick too, but I'd bet a large sum of money that Golden has committed at least one sexual assault that just went unreported. Florida managing to sweep all of that mess under the rug in the middle of a title run might be one of the all time great PR achievements. The media was more up in arms about Holloway getting popped for fricking weed than a college coach stalking co-eds.

Oats is about the best Bama is going to get; and more importantly retain for our acceptable standards in BB. If he won more, he'd get offers he couldn't refuse. Especially now that NIL money is in play.

Top 10 is about as high as you can get where I don't think there's any argument.
Higher and it gets dicey, another Final Four or higher would solidify Top 5 at least.

I don’t care to spend the time ranking them.
The bottom line is he’s an elite coach who if he stays and we can get the right big men to complement his perimeter system is going to win a championship eventually and we are incredibly lucky to have him in Tuscaloosa.
