Agree 1,000%. They need to do their taxes like everyone else.

Thinking about calling Gerald Allen tomorrow tbh. This is silly. We should not be making income tax carve outs for some of the most privileged 18-22yo men in the world. They don't have to pay for the school, their textbooks, their food, the roof over their heads, they can get free nike gear any time they want, they get paid 6-7 figures. At some point the insanity has got to stop. I don't begrudge them making money but if I'm paying state income taxes then by God they should be too.
If we are gonna do income tax exemptions, lets do it for people and businesses that actually provide jobs, build communities, etc. This is embarrassing for the state

The amount of tax dollars that solid Alabama and Auburn football programs bring in to the state is pennies on the dollar compared to what the state would get by taxing the income of the players from NIL. Basically the same premises as giving tax incentives to major businesses coming to the state. If Georgia is doing it, we have to keep up with the Joneses so to speak.

Say what you want about the NFL but their players just pay taxes like anybody else in their state who makes earned income (if the state has an income tax).
Actually, every pro athlete pays a pro rated amount of state income tax based on the states they actually play in.
The Tennessee Titans pay no state income tax for 2025 on at least 9/17 their income...the games they will play in Tennessee.
They will have to pay California state income tax on 1/17th of their income for the game they play at San Francisco.
I don't know if they only count game days, or if practice days count as work days. But the Titans will have to pay a pro rated amount of state income tax to California, Arizona, Colorado, Ohio, and Indiana. They also play Jacksonville, Houston, and Las Vegas and will not have to pay tax for those games...those are other states with no state income tax.
Rather than give them an exemption, I'm all for every state...including Alabama...enacting the same enforcement procedures and taxing the NIL money of every college athlete that comes into Alabama to play a game. Why should they be treated any differently than the pros?
