Last one was Florida, an SEC school.

As an alumnus, I want all of our athletic teams to do well.

Football will always be number one at Alabama, but that is no reason to sacrifice excellence in other sports.

The notion that a University can't be really good in all sports is fricking stupid.

Explain to me how having a great Basketball team hurts the football team and vice-versa.

Coleman has been a dump and stayed a dump through multiple renovations. It’s time to move on and up.

That said, the question is a massive false equivalency. A basketball arena does nothing to harm football. That’s like saying buying bananas will cause your sidewalks to crack.

The o-dome was built in the late 70s, opened officially at the end of 1980. Not anywhere close the newest shooty hoops arena. Quite possibly one of the worst SEC facilities I've competed in. They've won 2 indoor track titles since their last renovation, which was 2016.

Yes

more than you want the best football players?

I don't see how these two are connected.

Like building a new basketball arena that will improve the program and make fans happy and purchase tickets?

$183 million dollars. That would buy quite a few NIL deals.

You really seem stuck on the thought that this impacts the football budget, which it doesn’t.

Is it not being paid for through booster donations?

Yes, but it’s not through some “general fund” that affects all sports. Just like with the BDS upgrades last year, the AD goes to boosters and asks if they’d like to give to this specific cause (this time, it is an arena). Boosters can say no and then give only to football. The fact of the matter is that the AD went out and said “who wants to help us build a bball arena?” And he got over 100M dollars.
We get it, you’re a football only fan. You really shouldn’t worry about football’s budget. Football boosters are as flush with cash as ever.

Right, but some of those who had extra money and were willing to throw it at a basketball arena may be rethinking priorities after seeing A&M's NIL structure.
