2009 team was all heart.

Rolando McClain. He was a mess off the field but he ruled on it; he was Bama's heartbeat that season, the single most important player on that team, IMO. He would not let them lose...

Ingram was just as important on the otherside of the ball. He was our offense. When Greg would go into a funk, Ingram would just lineup at quarterback and wildcat his way down the field. That 09 South Carolina game, he put the entire offense on his back.

I love Ingram and I think he was the most important player on the offense...and the second most important player on the team behind Ro. Saban and Smart trusted McClain with the defense like they have with no linebacker since...he was a machine in the film room and another coach on the field. If Ingram had gotten hurt that season, we would’ve had a drop off offensively but at least we did have Trent Richardson behind him...if Ro had gotten hurt that year, I think it would’ve been worse than us losing Moses this year...

Spot on about Ingram against SC; that was a trademark performance and kickstarted his Heisman run...

McElroy gets a lot of shite for what happened in the middle of the season, but his play against Auburn and Florida was essential to us staying undefeated.

That tightrope run, though.

2016 was the most talented and complete team we’ve had but we just needed a qb with a more efficiency and we we would’ve annihilated Clemson. Sucks they lost. Clemson had no business winning that one

Alabama had the better team in '16, and I think Clemson had the better team in '15.

I hate saying it because it sounds sacrilegious
Y’all just get behind me and I’ll take all the heat while we push through.

I’ve been attempting to bring some perspective to that defense for years now. Absolutely LOVED it but it is probably a bit overrated. They’d be GREAT in any era but the way teams tried to attack them was just dumb. I specifically remember announcers proclaiming, “________ will try to pound it up the middle all game and it’ll be tough because Alabama is stout.”

Uhh, yeah lol. Teams were so hard headed.

I’d probably take 2011 LSU defense over 2011 Alabama defense if I had to pick one to head into next season with.

That said, 2011 Alabama was built for the time. So can’t take that away from them.

That one didn't bother me that much at the time, but every year it bothers me a little bit more

Man, same! The night of this years national championship I really worked myself into being angry about that game again just thinking about it.

That defense was so good, an absolute shame about that game.

Up at halftime, right out of halftime Anderson takes that fumble to the 16 because of fricking Renfrow tackling or he scores. Classic we only got a field goal. 2-15 on 3rd down, just could not stay on the field and hold the ball. God what a frustrating game looking back. I hate those guys on defense didn’t go back to back they sure as hell deserved it.
