Milroe at WR/ TE requires a few IFs, but it might be an option….

IF he can catch the ball
IF he can secure the ball after the catch
IF Coach Saban hires a competent OC who can scheme him open
IF he can run routes and block
IF he can add 10 pounds and not lose a step

He has top shelf speed and twitch as a runner in space. Need to get him mismatches in the open field.

Put him at WR and you eliminate a few of those IFs. Being a TE is not a lot of fun, especially for a guy who played QB his whole life. OL/DL love being moved to TE but it's gonna be a hard sell for a QB. Gaining 10-15 pounds of pure muscle at 20 years old is not gonna be easy for a guy who is already yoked. And there is no way he's gonna maintain the same speed. Physically, now he can overpower a lot of DBs. But if you move him into the box to battle with lineman and linebackers, he's gonna be overmatched.

IF Milroe is intellectually honest with himself, he'll realize he isn't an SEC QB much less an NFL one and move to a position that better suits his skill set.

With his size, speed, power, and physicality he'd be a hell of a Safety if he can learn the position.

By the way, Ethan White, Florida, 2nd team All SEC OG, is in the portal (or soon to be).
Another transfer I don’t understand. Is Florida so bad is that why he would leave? I am not sure Billy was the guy people thought he was.

Football is now a game of mismatches. No LB can cover him as a TE……Bowers isn’t a 240 lb TE!

This is dumb. No LBer can cover him! So what? They won't have to cover him. You can put a big safety over him and he's either gonna be covered or unable to reach as a blocker. Are we throwing to the TE on every play or is the TE gonna have a lot of other responsibilities?

And Bowers is 230 as a sophomore. He's gonna be 240+ by the time he hits the NFL, bc he will need to be blocking OLBs that are 265.

Don’t know what football you are watching but avg weight of LB in NFL is 240 pounds……college is 223 pounds. The game is no longer smash. My bet is on the smaller/quicker guy. Bama no longer runs the wishbone.

I think Milroe might be worth a look at big receiver/TE.

It is funny I was thinking about this the other day. Could we move him to HB/TE? Smelley was only 6'2 and was a work horse. Milroe is more athletic. Him coming out of the backfield with his speed or using him for a HB option throw mixed in would put some defenses on their toes.

Again as others mentioned you would have to convince him and he would have to have an OC he believed could make it worth. Also still not sure he will not be our QB in the future.

Was this not the same argument we had around here with B Sims? QB coming out of HS and everyone argued he would be a better RB or Safety. That he did not have the ability to play QB. Finally got his shot and may be one of my favorites at UA. I did not say one of the best but there has not been many players that hung in there like he did and gave it all he had.

Milroe has a better skill set in my opinion and more ability. So it will be interesting this spring.

Exactly. I came here to say this. People are sleeping on Milroe. I’m not going to guarantee he wins the starting job but he has a great chance. BoB doesn’t fit his skill set at all. If you have a coordinator that actually uses him as a RPO QB he’ll be crazy dangerous. There’s no way he’ll move to another position instead of transferring. Hugh Freeze and Lane Kiffin would be all over him if he hits the portal.

Gotcha. I’m pumped about Dippre because we need help at TE. I was hoping the news was BoB was gone. Lol

Milroe is talented but will not beat out Simpson. Ty can make all the throws and can also run.
