Texas tight end and ex-Alabama transfer Jahleel Billingsley is expected to enter the NFL draft, sources tell @on3sports.

Billingsley, who has two years of eligibility remaining, played in four games for Texas this year. Had 37 career catches at Alabama.

Did Byers visit us, or does he plan to? Or has that ship sailed if we get Proctor?

Bama's been super quiet in the portal, TE CJ Dippre is really only reported visit or offer out.

And even then, I'm not sure it's committable, as Dippre is flirting with USCe and tOSU as well. Maybe if they miss their TE flip target(s) Wednesday?

I think it's Luke Hasz mainly, pretty sure Lawson Luckie is a pipedream despite them pressing for him. They were working the fact that UGA was still recruiting Walker Lyons and are arguably favorites for Duce Robinson while already having 2 TEs committed.

I may have been looking at this transfer portal all wrong. I was thinking this morning that every year the guys who don't want to work and compete for playing time just walk away leaving roster spots available for Saban to fill with hopefully better players. Previously he had to put up with them for 3 or 4 years. I think as for the guys in the portal, for a program like LSU it was a God send because they were depleted. So a bunch of guys all show up and to their coaches credit he got them to play well as a team. But for a program that already has it's culture intact its probably not a great idea to pull in more than just a few to fill needs vs signing players out of high school who can learn the Bama way right out of the gate. I do believe we are seeing more guys in the portal now than we will see in the future, eventually they will all find the same problem, the best players play no matter where you go and unless you drop out of division 1 every team has great players. At some point advisors or parents will start telling some of them to stay put and earn a spot.

If you are hoping that parents and counselors will give kids good sound, even difficult advice, go back to at least the 80s if not farther.

This mindset makes me laugh.

If someone transfers, that doesn't mean they don't want to work. Some people are just stuck behind a player that is better than them. You're right that some guys will transfer for more PT only to be stuck behind someone else but there are plenty of guys that will get the opportunity to play ball. Everyone that is mad about guys transferring are only mad because it can have a negative impact on their favorite team.

Hey come on man, it makes us feel better if we just assume that they were lazy and didn't buy in.

I wonder how many people hold themselves to the same standard they impose on others.
