Wish we had a little more time on the coastal drive like you do. I'm really looking forward to it.

I've done the drive before, so I'll be driving while the rest look at the sites. That way we won't run off into the pacific

Monterey is one of my favorite places to visit, love going out there during the summer and it is 64 degrees out.

Whale watching more of a summer thing there though.

Upper deck on StubHub tickets are 250 atm. Round trip flight from ATL to San about 1000 a PC. Looking at 3000-3500 includes nosebleed tickets, 2 round trip tickets, food, gas/transportation, motel room, and site seeing.

If tickets are going for 250 before any of the schools have sent them out, you know that these things have a lot farther to fall.

Avoid ATL at all costs as it is the closest airport for both Alabama and Clemson. You could have bought tickets through Southwest out of Nashville about a month ago for like 300/400 each and they have no change fees if you need to cancel.

Check other airports like OAK and SFO as they are easy driving distance. Even LAX wouldn't be terrible.

Made my flight arrangements in October. Ticket prices both $s and points were ridiculous. We are flying into Sacramento. The airport is 1 1/2 hours from San Fran. Going out the 3rd, 2 nights at Hilton Union Square and then on to Homewood Suites in San Jose, closest decent hotel I could get near Levi Stadium.
Had to get redeye back Tuesday evening, but we have friends in Sacramento we will spend some time with.
Didn't try to change flights b/c points for 1st class were very acceptable.
The Hilton adjacent to the stadium was a million points a night. Who the heck would do that?
Arrive in Sacramento early so will detour thru wine country to the Coppola Winery which is my favorite. There is an amazing restaurant there, the grounds are gorgeous and Coppola has a lot of his memorabilia there including Oscars.
Bought my 4 tix from ticket office and got lower level on the aisle, so I am happy. Checked Stub Hub and for my location with the fee add ons I would have paid almost $500 more for the 4. I am thinking prices may go up. Birmingham is adding flights and had I been will to fly coach (not a snob, I am old with back and knee problems and if I flew that far in coach, I would not be able to walk. I will be eating muscle relaxers and anti-inflammatories as it is), could probably have done decent on price

I guess I am lucky living closer to BNA, Round trip to Oakland just a month ago was only like 20K points round trip.

Flying into LAX tomorrow, arriving 10:00 AM. Driving up PCH #1 to Monterey, staying in a mid-rated hotel, $80. Spending the next day or two exploring San Fran, including Muir Woods. Staying the second night in Pacifica. Then back to the Monterey hotel for nights 3 and 4.

Bama media session is Saturday 8:30-9:30 and is open to the public. ESPN Gameday is noon Monday, I believe.

Driving back to LAX for late afternoon flight Tuesday.

My prices were very reasonable and less than Miami would have been. BNA-LAX using about 12,000 miles on Delta, the return on Southwest for about $110. Hotel for

Ticket prices on the secondary market for Monday’s college football national title game are cratering – get-in prices hit $150 Tuesday on StubHub and experts say it should continue to drop. By comparison, last year’s get-in price peaked at about $1,700.

quote:

A year ago Alabama and Georgia conveniently met in Atlanta and the average ticket price on SeatGeek hit a whopping $3,046, nearly two-and-a-half times the $1,262 average the year before for Alabama-Clemson in Tampa, Florida. Proximity to the fanbases was everything. Any money not spent on travel can be spent on tickets. If Atlanta hosted again this year, ticket prices would be high. This year’s current average, as of Tuesday afternoon, was a respectable $1,043, but that won’t last as prices are plummeting. “Tickets sold in the past 24 hours have gone for an average of just $533 each,” Leyden said.

Time to buy tickets as the price is dropping fast.

I've seen some people saying that tickets aren't moving even at 150 because no one can get out there at this point. We could legit see 10-20 dollar tickets just trying to get locals to go to the game.

Obviously I will be eating my 1150 through the ticket office. I have seats in section 327.

But if I can move down for cheap I will probably do it.

I can get tickets for free and I'm still not going. The airlines are gouging right now. After Christmas Eve/Christmas and NYE/NY being the last Monday/Tuesday, I can't take off Friday and get back to work at noon on Wednesday for an airline ticket that's not insanely overpriced. Plus the extra hotel nights to fly in that early. Next year it's in NOLA. I'll just wait...

I'm not even going to pay attention to ticket stuff at this point. Such a kick in the balls. Sheesh.

Not tooting my own horn here... But surprised I got no responses to this thread a while ago

Southwest from Nashville to Oakland that time of the year is only like 350 round trip or only 22k points. Refundable..

That time the game was in Phoenix if you planned ahead tickets were cheap if you had got out there.
