Well now I’m sad again. Thanks. Between that game and me being a Raider fan and the Tuck Rule bullshite ive really had to suffer through a lot of his bullshite.

But he usually beat Peyton like a drum so he’s ok in my book.

Saban s dumbest play call in his entire tenure at Alabama was when he decided to go for it on 4th and 1 from the Auburn 13 yard line, when we were up 7 with 5 minutes to go. Now, granted, a major factor in that decision was the fact Cade Foster was unreliable, but it's something you just have to try to go up by 2 scores with a 30 yard FG attempt

Alan McElroy- the last kicker I remember that kicked straight-on. Was part of 2 NC teams.

The Crimson Tide won 3-0 on a rain-soaked night in Baton Rouge on Nov. 10, 1979. Alan McElroy's 27-yard field goal midway through the third quarter accounted for the game's only points.

He was the last.

Bryant went out specifically looking for a soccer style kicker and found Peter Kim at Hawaii, who had to sit the 1979 season due to transfer rules.

ETA - Fun facts about Peter Kim. He would go on to score the final Alabama point of Bear Bryant's career in the 1982 Liberty Bowl against Illinois. He's now a wealthy restauranteur in Hawaii.

Don’t know about kickers…but Lane Bearden gets his own mountain…

Loved that guy, and one point they had his brace on a pedestal under lights in the Bryant Museum and played his highlights in the background.
GOAT though was “Fishing with Tyler and Lane”… Watts and Bearden would go fishing and talk about past games, it used to come on after the 10pm news on Sundays, it was awesome.

Sorry to derail thread…
