I loved college ball because I knew the deal. 3-4 years then you root for them when they go to the NFL.
It makes zero sense to follow a team and recruiting now when there is no commitment. In the next few years the common fan will lose interest. Once the money dries up we’ll be left with a few schools.
It sucks but either evolve or be left behind.

yeah I mean, I really can't be mad about a kid/his family not turning down 7 figures. No one here would turn that down. Don't hate the player, hate the game.
I'm not mad at any of them. I'm happy for them, especially the ones that will transfer to us.
What folks refuse to consider is that a profession like football is wrought with uncertainty. Everyone of these players is one injury away from losing it all, or in the unlikely event they even make it to the NFL, they bust their first or second season.
If you've got someone who's willing to pay you one million dollars right here, right now to play football, you frickin' take it. Because like we always say, if you're good enough, the NFL will find you.

Quote my entire post, because you're not making a good point at all. You're coming across as jilted. Because even in business, when you leave one job for what you believe is a better one, you often leave behind friends and fellow professionals who have meant something to you.
You said he was "pretending" in his statement. Leaving Alabama for a better job doesn't mean he's pretending. It means he's proactive and probably making a sound financial decision.

Which is why our larger society is pretty much irreparably fricked. Everything is a business. Anything good has to be monetized. Nothing can ever just be enjoyable for what it is. We couldn't be satisfied with the 3 Daves and low production quality Jefferson Pilot broadcasts. Nope, gotta milk every last dime. Couldn't be satisfied with just playing a goddamn bowl game. Gotta have the BCS and a playoff.

This is the biggest load of horseshite ever. Frick this nonsense. There are students all over these universities who don’t get a tenth of what these kids are getting because they’re blessed with athletic ability. These spoiled arse kids were already getting free tuition, free housing, free food and not that shite the common student has to eat, they get a real nutritionist who caters a meal for that athlete. The idea they could not have a job and make money like the common student was bullshite too. LSU used to line students up with medical jobs at OLOL where I worked at. They’d sit n the office making 15$ an hour while me and the rest of the employees saw patients and performed the test. These athletes were always being catered to. This whole poor under privileged kids who didn’t stand a chance until NIl is bullshite.

Who said this?
And you're right about all of it, but that was then and this is now. You're living in the past. This is the here and now and in the here and now, Mbakwe is a professional football player who is exploiting to his benefit a system that he didnt create, and he's smart to do it.

The average fan won’t even realize how bad NIL is for another year or two. When they start watching next fall they are going to wonder where half their team went in the offseason and then when they play against them in the season they will be like “hey he’s our guy right ?”
Posted on 12/16/24 at 7:29 pm to WW
Probably so. I mean Bak wasn't better than Zabien Brown or Domani Jackson. He was actually playing out of position.
He's built more like a running back. He could easily be a Chris Johnson type.

Do you legit not get it or are you pretending to not get it?
Have you ever left one job for what you believe is a better one but still had genuinely fond feelings for the job itself and the relationships you're leaving behind? I suppose you haven't.
A professional can make "business decisions" that are rooted in practicality and at the same time have heart felt feelings about the people and relationships he's leaving behind. Do you not get this?
You said the kid was "pretending" in his statement. Why would he be pretending?

I didn’t blame him I’m saying that the same narrative that 55% of the country just said I’m sick of last November is the same bullshite that allowed this to start to begin with. Seriously think about this, because a kid is faster, stronger and more athletic we’re already giving free education to. Meanwhile that MD that’s treating you, your wife your kid and actually provides something of value is strapped with a loan as big as a house note. How did we as a society allow this to occur? How could we possibly place this much importance on something that’s supposed to be entertaining.

Lane is going to run his roster with 50-55 good players. The rest is for practice players and on the cheap.
And they'll continue to lose games they have no business losing because there's no added incentive once the check hits their accounts.

Vanderbilt and Oklahoma have entered the circle jerk.

He loses at least one game a year due to analytics.

I used to feel this way. But now they are pros. They can deal with the good and bad.
