Said the same last week. Grubb needs to call plays to what we do well right now. 11 personnel is not what we do well. He needs to stop trying to force it. If we aren't going to run it, then by God lets throw it. Put 4 or 5 wide receivers on the field, spread the defense out, and get those guys the football in space where they can catch it and let them run.

Ryan Williams can't catch a cold down field, but getting your hands on him in space is like tackling smoke. Neither Lottie, Bernard, or Rico "expect" to be tackled. Get these guys the football with room to move.

I look back to our gameplan on 1/9/12. Completely different than the GOTC. We just nickel and dimed LSU down the field all night with plays designed to have a guy open. Not plays where AJ had to make the right read or make a bunch of checks at the line. Just safe, efficient plays against a top 10 defense of all time. Brad Smelley lead the team in receptions that night. We attacked them where they were vulnerable.

Would be nice to have efficiency data by formation.

I imagine our efficiency numbers for the bunch tight look have to look Shula level bad because I'm not sure we do anything effectively out of that look.

I'm also interested in explosive ratings because we don't pop in any phase of the offense this year.

For example between our two primary backs our longest run of the season is 28 yards. That's almost impossible on 180 carries given the games against ULM and E IL.

Passing wise we only have two players with plays over 50 yards (RW and Brooks) and one of them didn't even score on the play.

When you lack the ability to score on big plays it puts so much pressure on the QB to be accurate and consistent or the offense stalls. For example against AU and UGA we've been at 3.5 and 5.4 YPA and have been under 55% passing both games.

There is absolutely no way to consistently put up points that way without an incredible run game which we don't have because you just cant stack enough first downs to get anywhere.

Which is why I say again that if Ty cant be a 65% passer in an offense that is only throwing balls inside 20 yards we need to try someone else or there's no path to a W IMO.

With respect, the problem with the dump off to whatever back we have is they don't have the speed to make the defense pay. To make it worse they all try and break for the sideline over and over and actually lose ground.

The RB room is a clusterfeck with the current coach.

Fairly confident we would have beaten Oklahoma last time we played if we had not just given them the game with turnovers. That is really their strength though. Forcing turnovers. The other problem could be the kicking game, though. Both kickers and the snapper.

Couple of practice notes from Alabama’s media viewing portion of the CFP practice:

-Jam Miller was back with the offense
-Parker Brailsford & Kam Dewberry were working with the OL
-Josh Cuevas was in stretch lines, then working on a stationary bike
-I did not see LT Overton or Dre Kirkpatrick Jr.

They're tied for 80th in the country in turnover margin. They've only gotten 13 turnovers and 3 were against us. That's probably coloring people's perspective of their defense. It's a really good defense but forcing turnovers is not what they rely on.

They are at a -2 turnover ratio for the season.

For reference, we are at a +7.

Coach just said that LT is doubtful for Friday night.

He's optimistic for Cuevas and Jam

Damn no LT hurts

We need Codename for some info on LT. Why would he be dressed at practice?

If they only get two turnovers? We win.

If we hit a 30 yard field goal? We win.

If they get called for defensive holding on the P6? We win.

We were the better team but didn't execute well enough to win that day, but they made all the little plays on the road and frankly we cant complain that we didnt win.

Problem is that game put us on the road in the first round instead of hosting and we've got to go play them again to boot. We're going to need DeBoer era Alabama best game that isn't against Georgia in the regular season on Friday.

And they had 4 vs Tennessee. So that’s 6 turnovers in 10 games. If anything the Bama and Tenn games were the flukes for them

He wasn't. I think it was determined in the thread that the pic in the OP is not recent.
