AL.com - Alabama Releases 2013 Depth Chart
Yeldon
Henry
Hart
Tenpenny
Kamara
And that’s if you’re not counting Fowler as a primary back which he definitely was a significant ballcarrier in short yardage sets.
You want to argue about how he got there have at it but that was the depth chart in 2013.

No negativity here. Would love for everyone to be back healthy. But are we sure this isn’t a picture from earlier in the season? I thought I recalled seeing this little girl in a video a few weeks back.

The football Instagram account posted it today. But, hey, you win. It was from earlier this year.

Except you may want to research a little better because the date of that article which was released was after fall camp. He injured his knee in fall camp prior to that date which required knee surgery.
Also did you even read that article? If so, were you curious that Kamara was not even listed in the depth chart? The one you are claiming he is on and supporting your argument. Did you question why it did not include K Drake? I assume you were watching Alabama football in 2013.
And in regard to off the field issues which kept him from the field.

Saban prohibited Kamara from practicing with the team for one game because of “behavior reasons.” He was suspended for Alabama’s bowl game. Around that time, he also was arrested for driving with a suspended license. Alabama released Kamara from his scholarship.
Nice try though.

But are they going to play and are they going to be healthy enough to make a difference? We dont need just bodies on the field. We need guys healthy enough to make a difference.
I mean, it kind of is what it is right now, right? Pritchett looks lost out there and is not an effective piece right now. Maybe a year from now he will be. Cuevas at 80% will be a better option to go win this game.

I don’t really have the time or interest to argue over who was RB3 vs RB5 entering fall camp vs who was RB5 to start the season a decade ago nor do I particularly care with a playoff game in a few days.
If you have inside info to suggest that was the case since we weren’t there cool.
The point is and remains that we had future NFL superstars like AK and Jacobs who never or barely got used and now we can’t identify, sign and develop enough guys to have a replacement level RB room in the SEC.
A huge part of the issue has to be addressed at OL or it won’t matter, but major questions have to be asked of whoever was doing evals the last three cycles when in the portal era we get what we’ve had relative to the recruiting level we’ve been at. I mean we aren’t just missing on the HS kids, we brought in Dre Washington and he can’t even get on the field competing with Miller, Hill and Riley banged up or out. That’s coaching and evals IMO and it lines up with Gillespie showing up:
2021: Weaton (bust)
2022: Henderson (bust)
2022: Miller (avg)
2023: Haynes (inj/transfer)
2024: Riley (inj/TBD)
2024: Hill (TBD)
2025: Dear (freshman)
2025: Washington (bust)
Given that most of those guys were top 100 or 5* recruits that’s a horrible hit rate. The OL deserve some of the blame because we haven’t been dominant at setting a LOS since 2020, but even so the only one of those guys who ever looked like they had NFL/AA type potential was Haynes who has been hurt and left to get hurt again at Michigan.
We have to do better and I’m hoping it happens next year with Hill/Dear/Crowell, all of whom particularly Crowell look like big time guys based on their HS tape that need to be developed and given proper blocking to reach their ceilings.

88 (or 86) on the right should be on the bench....should have smoked that kid.

Gillespie
And the thing about Gillespie, he's been putting a poor product on the field - unless it was developed by someone else first - since 2021. I know he's probably a popular guy in the locker room which is why he was retained but I wasn't impressed with him under the prior regime.

Tyren Jones and Alvin stayed in trouble in their short stay at Bama

Oh I agree, it is what it is and that's what bothers me. We've hobbled across the finish line with injuries seemingly everywhere, and now play a road playoff game this week.

#81 is lost as well. That guy is soft. Everything he does is in slow motion. It takes him forever to catch and tuck the ball away thus when hit he drops the ball. He couldn't block a girl.

Is that the freshman Kyle Edwards?

If Cuevas cant go we dont have a TE worth playing because neither of them block or even make a real effort at it and they arent threats in the passing game right now.
We can go 4 wide or move an OT to a jumbo TE to help with protection but putting Pritchett in to stand there frozen while edge guys cross his face is going to get someone killed against a Venables defense who doesnt fear the deep ball.

I was answering your post with the understanding we have a tendency to not play the best players and Kamara my point was him not toting the rock and leaving had to do with the injuries and his mindset that season. Even he has been quoted saying that.
In regard to evaluating and developing that has been an issue for a while. Not just at RB but in the trenches and elsewhere. This is something I believe started happening in Saban’s last few years. Maybe it is staff but yes I agree we seem to be missing on more than we hit.
I do have hope with Hill, Dear and Crowell. Still need to show we can develop them

I'm hoping it's just him being a freshman and still learning. He was a very highly coveted TE coming out of HS. His recruiting profile stated he was "very athletic".

I like 81 he just isn’t ready. If 80 can go, so be it. If not, your idea is the one. Protect Ty, let our WR’s run around, dump it off to RB if needed, preferably Jam or Dear.
