Sounds like coach was trying to send a message about performance. We've had a problem with playing down to the competition and tonight Sears seemed to be guilty of it and he got his minutes yanked from him. Hell, Philon got sent to the bench in favor of Youngblood to start the game.
Oats wants more consistent effort. It seems he's going to start changing people's minutes and roles to get the point across. Showing that even the team's leader is accountable is a pretty damn strong message. People wanted this with Milroe for things far more egregious. Discipline and accountability can still exist in college basketball in Tuscaloosa it seems.

Mark Sears needs to focus on playing team ball.
His shooting has been sporadic all year. Like I said a few games back...he's not a knockdown shooter anymore.
He had a couple of guys open in the first half but he forced it then his defense wasn't the best.

Sears is going to struggle when they allow the body up and hand check constantly. He doesn't have the quickness of Philon or Holloway to create separation. He got frustrated and forced things.
He needs to adjust because he'll face it several more times.
