This is going to be a very good group. I think one of our best backfields in the last few years, and we have had some damn good ones. I wouldn’t go as far to say a heisman year from one of them, but as a unit they will be incredibly good.

Najee will be a stud as “the guy” this year, but I wouldn’t not be surprised at all if Brian Robinson has equally as good of a year - if not better. Robinson’s speed and cutting ability is ridiculous, considering the power he also runs with.

I am curious to see how good Sanders is and if he can take any carries from the other two. It will be a tough task, that is for sure.

If the Offensive Line can perform at a high level this year, which I believe they will, then I expect these running backs to take a ton of pressure off Tua, and vice versa.

TL;DR - the offense will kick arse again this year.

Kerry Goode had some wheels before he got injured. People don't realize what a knee injury used to do to guys. Basically career ending

The Boston College game in 1984, Kerry had 297 yards of total offense before he blew out his knee. Oh what might have been...

youtube kick-off return

He is now fighting Lou Gehrig's disease:

A busy scene greeted Nick Saban when arriving Friday at Atlanta's College Football Hall of Fame...Kerry Goode waited patiently off to the side before getting a few moments with the guest of honor. The crowd of a few hundred gave the former Alabama running back a loud applause when recognized during the ceremony.

quote:

"It's always great seeing Alabama people," Goode said with a smile. "Wherever we go, we turn out in crowds. It makes you see good to see that we haven't lost that even though, over the years, they've been spoiled. So they come and they still turn out because a lot of times when people win, they take things for granted. So it's nice to know they still have that hunger to turn out."

I want a home an home with Boston College. You'll never convince me otherwise, especially since I believe we have a losing record

It's pretty amazing how far things have come in a short period of time.

We should be solid. We have several good looking new recruits as well.

If the run game improves, this offense will be unstoppable.

When defenses drop the safeties back, run it down their throats. When then bring up the safeties, beat them deep.

I expect Najee to have a big breakout year. I'm very curious about Brandon Robinson and Chadarius Townsend's possible role in the run game too. I thought it was interesting he got some PT at RB in the A-day game.

Ok. Our running game's success depends almost completely on our Oline's ability to create space and our OC's willingness to run it as well as the scheme implemented to make that happen. The RB's are a small part of the equation. Mediocre RB's will get yards if the Oline creates space, and amazing RB's won't go anywhere if the Oline doesn't win the LOS.

And so, in order to 'talk about the running game', RB should be way down the list of things to discuss - with Oline, Oline coaching and scheme, and OC coaching and scheme well ahead of the topic of RB. Which would you like to discuss?

so do I, was at the BC game when Kerry went down and then watched that bama D chase DF all over Legion Field.
with Harris, Roberson and Tua has the speed to pick up a lot of yards on the ground{ hope he has leaned to slid this spring} The ground game will be really important come NOV. I hope they can just man up and pound teams like LSU\MSU and Lee County

I really hope we are a passing team again. I also hope Sark can work in a power running game when we need a tough 3 yards.

Almost impossible to do both. Maybe the RPO helps in that aspect, but the deal with power running is that it's usually a late game advantage that comes from the offense beating up the defense all game.

Remember the Bobby Petrino at Arkansas years? Seemed like they would get out ahead with all the passing, and then late in the game they'd try to run and use up the clock, but then fail and lose the game.

The running game is an investment that pays off in time. Unless the OLine is just that much more physically dominating, and that's not going to be the case vs the top teams.

The personnel is there. Just going to depend on how much Saban, Sark, and Tua to some degree (with audibles and such) want to/will commit to it. The toys of Tua's arm, Jeudy/Ruggs/Smith/Waddle are REALLY shiny and hard not to play with.

this year will come down to the OLine. Can they run block? Can they protect Tua? as one poster mentioned, the toys available will make plays/audibles hard on the play caller (Sark?) and Tua... will come down to what is the OLine able to do? quick release pass plays? or runs? Hoping for a cohesive Oline that can be excellent in at least one phase and passable in the other... give us one that can be excellent in both>>> the sky is the limit... Time to survey the Entire field or to run it down their throats,,,, who will stop the O? (no CU comments...whole new year, we have coming)

We ought to be big enough up front for sure, with certain people on the field we could have an Oline as big as anyone in the country.

I just want to seem them run for 500 against CU.... and while throwing for 1000... I would like a score of 11,000 to 2... (Bama takes safety to run out clock to end the game)
I am wearing one case of the red-arse for the Dabo's

I think Sark will try to use the running game more but I don’t know how effective it will be. Najee seems very streaky and Robinson and Sanders need to show what they can do with carries.
