More money than Bama is going to pay him

That would mean Saban doesn't want him.

Kiffin has always been a toxic coach.

This is why I hated the hire. I'm happy to have been proven wrong but I am prettty certain the relative lack of drama has been a function of Saban's control rather than a newfound maturity in Kiffin.

Lane will probably revert back to his old nature when he moves on. You just cant change your normal habits

I was honestly kind of surprised, albeit happily, that Kiffin returned for a 3rd year.

If he wanted him to stay? Absolutely.

Considering the amount of money we saved by him still being on the USC payroll the last 3 years, $2 million is a drop in the bucket for what he's done while at Alabama.

I don't think money is the issue here.

You really think that the admins would tell Saban "no"? If Saban said he wanted a new stadium, we would break ground tomorrow.

If anything, Alabama is in a much better position to offer more money than LSU.

Lulz at the folks saying L5U is going to outbid someone.

They just got outbid TWICE. For Herman and Jimbo.

If Kiff leaves, it won't be because of money.

Latest I'm hearing is Lane has an interview with Houston Monday and is expected to stay until after the CFP.

From what I'm hearing, the situation is fluid

edit: I got downvotes so I guess some people just don't like fluidity.

How about alkeyall? That's a fluid. Kool aid? I am partial to Dr Pepper

So was Jim McElwain when he took the CSU job, so was Tom Herman when he took the Houston job, and so was Nick Saban when he was the DC when the Browns were in the playoffs and he had taken the MSU job. You gameplan/practice during the day and recruit for your new job at night.

Colorado State doesn't recruit the same players at Alabama.
Houston doesn't recruit the same players as Ohio State.
Michigan State doesn't recruit the same players as the Browns.

It's a whole different scenario with Kirby and potentially Lane to LSU. It's a huge conflict of interest. If Lane gets the Houston job, go and recruit for them and stay on. That's fine with me. If he is going to LSU, just go now. I'm still not convinced, however, that Kirby's new job didn't get in the way of him preparing fully for Clemson. I mean it had to, right?

I don't like the idea of him leaving before the playoffs and hope he lands the Houston job. I would actually start paying attention to Houston

Good. I hope not. The last thing I want to see is Kiffin coaching offense at LSU

He would do really well there for 1-2 seasons with the exception of 1 game per year. I think Saban would eat his lunch especially no that he has the benefit of 3 years insight into him.
