We didn't bring in Blake to be a QB. Saban let's anyone start out where they want. He wanted to be a QB, so Saban let him start there. After that year, we move him to RB. After that year, we only had about 2 scholarship QBs, so we had to move him back. It was never intended for him to stay at QB.

I'm not going to look up links from around 2008-2009, but we wanted him as a RB or DB.

Okay, I admit that I am being a little obtuse regarding that fact, but I still don't see how you can say that Blake Sims wasn't a success story in the QB development department. he played QB for 3 out of the 4 years he was at Alabama. Does it even really matter if he was brought in as an athlete? He was brought in to play the position that he best fit in at.

I know a lot of fans and people who follow recruiting believed we recruited him to play Safety because that was thought to be his best position in college, but that doesn't mean that that's how the staff felt. A lot of the same people had DH pegged to play LB.

While it's definitely true that BS was moved to RB his 2nd year because we needed depth, I don't think he was moved back to QB the next year out of necessity. There were no unexpected transfers or injuries at QB. The fact that we didn't take 2 QBs in '11 or '12 indicates to me that the staff had every intention of moving BS back to QB.

I think the truth is that he was recruited as an athlete and the position that worked out best for him was QB. That's different than saying he was recruited to play RB/S but was stuck at QB out of necessity.

Y'all talking about Sims like he was a plug. You do realize he is Alabama's all time single season passing leader right? That's best season ever in a 123 year history.

Let's see how good Cook, Mayfield, or Watson look against this Bama defense in a few weeks. Bet serious money that none will have 400 yard 4 TD games. Its more likely that they leave the game with an injury after a 4-18 performance with an interception, 3 sacks and a forced fumble.

Bama doesn't need a gunslinger. Bama needs a smart guy that can read the safetys and audible at the line. His job is to put the ball in playmakers hands in space. Extend drives with his legs at times, and don't turn it over. That's it. We don't want high scoring games throwing it all over the place. We want to control the clock, play field position and make the other team make fatal mistakes. You win more games that way. Look at Ole Miss this year. They like shoot outs, they lost 3 of them. Saban knows exactly what he is doing.

Kyle Allen quit on his team this year. I don't want that little punk anywhere near Tuscaloosa. Let Auburn take another cancer into their program.

Saban has always gone with the backup of a predecessor. I fully expect Cooper Bateman to be the quarterback in 2016.

This is true, but the team was apparently raving about Barnett after the SEC Championship. They talked about his ability to throw the ball but also his ability to run the Zone-Read concepts. He was apparently giving our guys hell when running the scout team.

Now we all realize that scout team QB does not necessarily end up SEC Championship run ready QB but we also know Barnett has the tools to be successful and with Kiffin hanging around for another year, I think Blake has as good a shot as anyone of taking over next year.

i think it will be wide open as the "best" QB may be sitting the bench but he is raw and needs to add some weight. Therefore he was RS. I hope he gets at least one year with Kiffen.

Allen is probably going to Oklahoma. Blake Barnett has the talent and Kiffin can teach quarterbacks. Hell look what he did with Sims and Coker. Plus we still have Bateman and Cornwell next year although I think Barnett is the guy.
